major disappointment September 5, 2003 Tommy (USA) 31 out of 32 found this review helpful
This DVD doesn't even deserve one star. If there was a way to put a negative in front of this star I would. I'm a huge Guns N' Roses fan, and after watching the first five minutes of the DVD and seeing that interviews were being conducted with ditsy girls, and random people from the streets I suddenly realized that I had wasted my money. I had no idea that there wouldn't be any exclusive interviews or music from Guns N' Roses. In January I found out this DVD was coming out, and picked it up in April when it was finally released. I was excited because it was the first Guns N' Roses DVD ever. If I knew it was going to be that bad, as avid of a fan as I am, I would have never bought it. This DVD is just going to take up space on my DVD tower, never to be watched again. It was a major disappiontment.
MONEY MAKING SCHEME April 26, 2003 lisa MANTIERA (NYC) 28 out of 29 found this review helpful
THIS WAS LITERALLY THE WORST MUSIC DOCUMENTARY I'VE EVER SEEN. DESCRIPTION MISLEADING. THEREIS NO INTERVIEWS WITH BAND AT ALL. ALL INTERVIEWS ARE WITH PEOPLE WHO HEARD OF GNR OR LIVED IN LA AT THE TIME. MISPROUNUNCIATION OF BAND MEMBERS NAMES. THE SAME PICTURES SPLICED IN OVER AND OVER. THERE ARE 10 PICTURES IN "GALLERY", NO NEW INFORMATION, NO GNR MUSIC. JUST CHEEZY ROCK MUSIC. EXTREMELY BORING. I'M OUTRAGED THAT I BOUGHT THIS. SIMPLY OUTRAGED. THIS IS ROBBERY. A RIP OFF. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS LEGAL. i would like to give 0 stars but amazon won't allow that.
HORRENDOUS July 9, 2004 Dan Boniface (New York City) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I can honestly say, even as the biggest G n'R fan on the planet, that this was the most pathetic display of highway robbery that I have EVER seen. Put it this way; the Irish broad that narrates this abortion of a video calls Steven AD-LER - Steven ALD-ER. If I ever see that crook that made this video, I will be sure to get my 20 bucks back and bash this worthless piece of plastic over his head.

This DVD shouldn't even get one star - it's not nearly that good. Simply put, this DVD is an embarrassment to anyone who had anything to do with it. There are no interviews with the band, just a few 2- or 3-second clips from one interview with Slash, Izzy, and Duff. There is no GnR music in the show, nor is there concert footage of any kind. If you know nothing about the band, you may learn a few things. But many of the "facts" are false (it was Izzy who urinated on the plane, guys, not Slash), and those facts that are true can easily be found on any GnR website. There's no insight worth noting. If you love the band, you'll be insulted by the low quality of content and mailed-in production values. Not only are many facts wrong, the narrator didn't even put in enough effort to learn the band members' names - she mispronounces the names Adler and Stradlin. The interviewees are meager - a pair of fans is prominently featured. The ultimate disgrace? One of the interviewees actually says something about "Slash and Alex..." Alex? Alex Rose? That's right. W. Alex Rose. And that should tell you all you need to know about this DVD. It's gonna bring you down.
Complete Garbage! May 15, 2004 Lord Kayoss (Louisville, KY United States) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This documentary could've been made by a high school multi-media student - even a flunky one. "Chrome Dreams", the company claiming responsibility behind this atrocity put together a couple of photos (showed them over and over), some cheesy footage, and got a handful of know-nothings to tell you the GN'R story in a dozen different ways you already know. There is no exclusive interviews with any of the band members - just some old footage of Slash, Duff, and Izzy shot years ago on the road. Axl is no where to be found other than the photos. And, there is absolutely no Guns N' Roses music any where on the disc. Ultimately, this documentary does nothing for the avid Gunner and looks like a home made movie. Waste of $20.00 for sure. Hopefully, VH-1's "Behind the Music" style documentary will be more worthy of our time than this monstrosity.
