Live & Kickin' Butt October 20, 2004 C. Dixon (Silver Spring, MD USA) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
Live and Kickin' features Travis Tritt at his soulful best. Filmed in 2002 at the Tivoli Theater in Chatanooga, TN, Travis treats his fans to a host of favorites and covers material through his "Strong Enough" album. Perhaps one of the more underrated musicians in country music, Travis ably demonstrates why he should be a superstar with his bluesy vocals, excellent guitar-playing, and on-stage showmanship. He has the audience in the palm of his hand from the beginning till the end. Among the highlights on the DVD are fan favorites like "It's A Great Day to Be Alive", "I'm Gonna Be Somebody", "Country Club", "Strong Enough to Be Your Man" and a gorgeous acoustic version of "Anymore" in addition to covers of Hank Williams, Jr. ("Old Habits") and Charlie Daniels ("Long-Haired Country Boy"). The tracklisting: 1. Put Some Drive In Your Country 2. Time to Get Crazy 3. I'm Gonna Be Somebody 4. Where Corn Don't Grow 5. Old Habits 6. Can't Tell Me Nothin' 7. Livin' On Borrowed Time 8. Anymore 9. Country Ain't Country 10. Long-Haired Country Boy 11. Love Of A Woman 12. Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares) 13. Ten Feet Tall and Bullet Proof 14. Country Club 15. Strong Enough To Be Your Man 16. It's A Great Day To Be Alive 17. T-R-O-U-B-L-E 18. Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde 19. Homesick
gutsy, honest music & a great performance December 4, 2004 Alejandra Vernon (Long Beach, California) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Taped at the beautiful Tivoli Theatre in Chattanooga, Tennessee, this 2002 concert is terrific; Travis Tritt is a man who's paid his dues the hard way, and though he's had a lot of success, has yet to be fully acknowledged by the country music establishment for his talent as a singer/songwriter and dynamic performer, but the fans in this concert attest to his devoted following however, with a sold-out crowd responding with cheers and applause. I've been a Tritt fan since the early '90s, and have always liked the honesty and earthiness he brings to his music. Travis is a dynamo on stage in the up-tempo numbers with a back-up band of brilliant musicians, and for a change of pace, the central part of the show has him sitting alone with his guitar, singing "Anymore", "Country Ain't Country", and though I usually prefer Travis in his raucous and rockin' mode, my favorite song in the concert is Charlie Daniels' "Long Haired Country Boy", which Travis sings with a lot of heart and soul, and with a great acoustic guitar intro. The band: Scott Simpson, leader and bass / Wendell Cox, guitar / Paul Kramer, fiddle / Steve Sturm, steel / David Northrup, drums, and Jarred Decker, keyboard. All are superb, and a joy to listen to. The sound is very good for live concert footage, and total time is 90 minutes. Song list: 1: "Put Some Drive in Your Country" (Travis Tritt) 2: "Time to Get Crazy" (Tritt/Nicholson) 3: "I'm Gonna Be Somebody" (Harris/Colucci) # 2, 1990 4: "Where Corn Don't Grow" (Murrah/Springer) # 5, 1996 5: "Old Habits" (Hank Williams, Jr.) 6: "Can't Tell Me Nothin'" (Bogard/Giles) 7: "Livin' on Borrowed Time" (Tritt/DiPiero/Robbins) 8: "Anymore" (Tritt/Colucci) # 1, 1991 9: "Country Ain't Country" (Beathard/Boaz/Chamberlain) 10: "Long Haired Country Boy" (Charlie Daniels) 11: "The Love of a Woman" (Kevin Brandt) # 2, 2002 12: "Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)" (Travis Tritt) # 2, 1991 13: "Ten Feet Tall and Bullet Proof" (Travis Tritt) 14: "Country Club" (Jones/Lord) # 9, 1989 15: "Strong Enough to be Your Man" (Travis Tritt) 16: "It's a Great Day to be Alive" (Darrell Scott) # 2, 2001 17: "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" (Jerry Chestnut) 18: "Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde" (Aldridge/LeBlanc) 19: "Homesick" (Cobb/Buie)

I have always liked most Travis cds but, here, I discover his full talent, INCREDIBLE ! If you want a fabulous country music concert buy this one.TOP LEVEL DVD ! The power of Travis voice is incredible, Travis has some key songs sung with his guitar only and you will discover then his incredible talent, I would have never believed any artist can sing alone like that creating such an emotion, such a strong feeling ! he plays and sings WITH HIS HEART AND DELIVERS A FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE TO HIS AUDIENCE. to add to the dream, the band is perfect, the sound is perfect and so is the image captured that magic night. NOW I have a problem, I will have to go back one day to US to see him perform live before I die... Buy it while you can ! All the best Thierry
I agree, strange set list November 20, 2005 Michael Developer (NY) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Travis Tritt is a talented performer, no question. But after opening with a few rockin tunes, he goes into an hour of Travis Unplugged which has its moments. It ends with 2 more upbeat tunes, the finale a bit overly long only to be subdued by a break into Bible Belt (in case you didn't recognize it) which Tritt never sings. He just shakes hands and walks off the stage. Very odd. He sounds good, this DVD is FAR better than the horribly recorded MTV like concert footage. But unless you are a dieahard Tritt fan and enjoy being subdued for a while, I'm a little surprised by the set list, the only reason for my a little above average rating. In addition, the mix is bad. It's almost impossible to hear the keyboards and you lose a lot of the separation of the instruments. In addition, there's too much of a lovefest with Tritt and not enough shots of the band having fun, with the exception of needless shots on the side of the drummer when doing fills.
GOOD CONCERT........ October 20, 2004 HogDog (USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a good concert by most standards - except for the audio. The audio is not DD-5.1 nor is it DTS-5.1. But if you have a good receiver - you can simulate DTS-5.1 and DD-5.1 soundfields and it will please your ears. The only difference is that you will not get the surround speakers to perform in a true 5.1 mode. The video is in the widescreen anamorphic mode and quite clean. Overall it is a very good concert and a must have for all Travis Tritt fans. I picked it up at Best Buy for $10.50...
