Product Description Disc 1-ground breaking film created & directed by m. Shawn crahan. Disc 2-interviews & 5 music videos Studio: Wea-des Moines Video Release Date: 12/05/2006
Amazon.com If it has anything to do with the metal marauders from Des Moines, it can't possibly be nice or sweet. To quote singer Corey Taylor, also known as #8, "Being in Slipknot is a lot like having cysts removed from your body. It's gotta be done and... at the end of the day, it feels really, really good." Product of percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan, Voliminal may not be the digital equivalent of a dermatological procedure, but his scattershot approach won't be for everybody. It isn't a concert film or documentary, but rather an impressionistic look at the group on the road with frequent Ring-type special effects. The feature takes up the first disc, while the second consists of nine live tracks recorded in Europe and Japan, interviews with each band member, and five videos from the Rick Rubin-produced Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses. Although the Iowa rockers don horror movie masks for most public appearances, they make an exception for these candid conversations (not including sampler/keyboard player Craig "133" Jones). Also, though it looks cool, the menus consist of graphics rather than text, so it can take a little trial and error to figure out what's what. As a film, Voliminal may be pretty shapeless, but Maggots, i.e. the Slipknot faithful, are sure to find interest here, especially in the second disc. Casual fans, however--if there is such a thing--should begin their journey "inside the nine" with concert film/video collection Disasterpieces. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Not for you December 13, 2006 G. Vassiliades (Limasol , Cyprus) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This dvd is not for you unless u consider an interview worth it because thats basically all it is. i watched the first dvd and for 90 minutes expected the best to come but it never did.its a 90 min dvd of just clips of basically nothing. toilet issues and drinking problems (not slipknot) i regretted buying it and felt let down. not what i expected the 2nd dvd has its moments.the interview and the live shows which we already have more from disasterpieces. thats it.
Dumbest...thing....EVER!!! April 26, 2007 Mark Eaker (Denver, CO, USA) 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
I love Slipknot but I'm pissed that they allowed this piece of garbage into the hands of the maggot faithful. Disc1 is without a doubt the stupidest piece of[..]Ive ever seen. Why did i pay to watch some no-name idiot band roadie/hanger-on chug Jager and puke. Or watch someone else unclog a toilet, Im not kidding thats how this thing opens. Watching someone take a piss up close, or watching thier security goons beat up a fan half thier size, is this supposed to be "hardcore" or "heavy"?? The audio is terrible, you cant even tell what song is being played. I think this was put together as an art project by Saint Marys School for the Deaf and Blind. Disc2 (almost) makes up for it with interviews and videos but I'm very disappointed in the "feature". Shame on you Slipknot, you pride yourself in not exploiting your fans and you unleash this steaming heap on us. So I have to say, I loved Disasterpieces, but I will NEVER buy another Slipknot DVD. I hope you get pelted with these discs at your next show. I want my [...] back, from you, personally, with an apologiy scribbled on the bill.
THE FIRST DISC IS BAD / THE SECOND IS WORTH A LOOK December 22, 2006 Howard C. Strong III (ohio) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I GOT THIS DVD WITH HOPE OF WATCHING AN INFORMATIVE DOCUMENTRY OF SLIPKNOT IN WHICH I WOULD SEE FOOTAGE FROM THE LAST 233 CRAZY SHOWS THEY HAD PERFORMED AROUND THE WORLD. INSTEAD, THE FIRST DISC, CONTAINING THE DOCUMENTRY, FOCUSED ON TOILETS AND A CREW MEMBER VOMITING. THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME I WAS HITTING THE FAST FOWARD BUTTON, HOPING THAT THE MOVIE WOULD EVENTUALLY HAVE SOME FOCUS. IT SIMPLY DIDN'T. IT SEEMS THAT THE FIRST DISC WAS ATTEMPTING TO BE ARTISTIC WITH CAMERA SHOTS THAT, FOR THE MOST PART, HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BAND. APPARENTLY, PISSING IN A TOILET IS ARTISTIC TO THE BAND. THE SECOND DISC WAS VERY COOL WITH INTERVEIWS, LIVE CONCERT FOOTAGE, AND VIDEOS. I LOVED THE SECOND DISC, BUT I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE FIRST DISC WHICH HAD HORRIBLE SOUND QUALITY, CONFUSING MENUS, AND NO DIRECTION.
GREAT January 9, 2007 Ograo Barracuda (Brazil) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A great DVD with a wonderful presentation (covers, design, etc) makes this product a perfect one, even to the people that are not Slipknot fans.
I bought it and sold it within the first week! January 23, 2007 animation_trance (Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a poorly directed video. It is not something you can watch more than once. The concert footage looks like it came from a cell phone. It's hard to navigate through the menus to find what you want.I've heard Disasterpieces is much better in quality.I haven't seen it yet. Don't waste your time or money!I was expecting more.
