Not great! May 27, 2008 J. Buckley (Johannesburg, South Africa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Firstly, I'm absolutely fanatical about Priest, and will always buy their stuff! There are bad points and good points about this DVD. Firstly, the bad: I was aware when I purchased this that it is an UNAUTHORIZED documentary... so, don't expect any interview footage of the band at all - it ain't there. Sadly, what also isn't there is any of Priest's music - what you get is not-very-good cover versions of a few priest songs, edited over stock footage of a band that clearly isn't them and a few photos which are repeated over and over. The "album-by-album" review is missing key albums as well - "Unleashed", "Defenders" and "Ram It Down" are either mentioned in passing or simply omitted. The good points: There's a great interview with Painkiller producer Chris Tsangarides which is really fun and informative; The rock journalists that are interviewed are also very well informed and, in the case of Malcolm Dome and Geoff Barton, fairly authorititive on Priest's story. They cover a wide variety of interesting issues, particularly Rob's coming out of the closet, which Priest are generally very tight-lipped about. In short, this DVD is only for the die-hard, must-have-everything fanatic - and keep your expectations very low!
No Defenders Of The Faith Review? February 14, 2008 Jeff Williams (Roseville, CA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
No Defenders Of The Faith review? What a joke! Defenders is my personal favorite Priest release. Freewheel Burning, Love Bites, The Sentinal... are some of their finest work in the whole catalogue. Defenders is a metal masterpiece from start to finish. The fact every release is mentioned, except Defenders makes this a 1 star rating at best and loses all crediblity for the hardcore Priest fan. Malcome Dome is an idiot! See my Van Halen book review by this dolt. Rock Hard Ride Free
