Product Description A FADING COUNTRY MUSIC STAR RETURNS TO HIS HOMETOWN, WHERE HE REUNITES WITH HIS CHILDHOOD SWEETHEART AND ALSO MEETS HIS 16-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Amazon.com Broken Bridges, starring country superstar Toby Keith, is the Country Music Channel's debut entry into the world of feature films. Though it plays more like a televised movie of the week--complete with an opaque plot, much tears, and a happy ending--Broken Bridges is a guilty pleasure, thanks in large part to the surprising likeability (though not believability) of Keith. The tall singer plays Bo Price, a struggling musician who heads back to his small hometown for his younger brother's funeral. There, he runs into his high-school sweetheart Angela Dalton (Kelly Preston) and her teenage daughter Dixie (Lindsey Haun, daughter of Air Supply guitarist Jimmy Haun). It comes as no surprise to the viewer that Dixie is Bo's child--a daughter he never knew he had. Though she doesn't share her father's gruff personality, she did inherit his musical aptitude and stage presence. While Burt Reynolds chews up the scenery as Angela's father, Tess Harper--playing his wife--doesn't get much to do other than look worried. Look for BeBe Winans and Willie Nelson to make guest appearances as themselves. As for Bo and Angela? She makes a feeble attempt to resist her ex's charms by laying down the law. "I came out here to lay down the ground rules," she tells him. "Don't speak to my parents. Don't speak to Angela. And don't speak to me." Rules, of course, are meant to be broken, especially in feel-good movies such as this. --Jae-Ha Kim

Awesome Movie November 21, 2006 Bette A. Davis (USA) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
Broken Bridges is simply an awesome, romantic, wonderful movie. I saw it at the premier screening and am anxiously awaiting for my copy. It was so pleasant to see a movie very well acted without the need of computer generated action scenes. It's a beautiful story, and Toby Keith has once again had the knack of surrounding himself with the best talent around. The soundtrack is simply amazing. I have never before had the pleasure of listening to music in a movie that so clearly fit the movie. Simply a real treasure to own.

They don't movies like this anymore...A great family movie!!! Something the whole family can enjoy. Toby Keith gives a stellar performance. I hope there will be a sequel to this "Awesome Movie!"...There's still alot left to tell in this Down to Earth, Real Life, Heart Warming Story. I give the movie two thumbs up...I would give more but I only have two thumbs to give...

I think it is a wonderful movie. I was there at the premiere in Nashville, Tn. I saw the red carpet with all the stars>Toby Keith, Kelly preston, and Lindsey Haun. After th movie Kelly Preston said that Toby is a great actor!! The movie was very moving and there was times it had you Crying and their was times when you would be laughing. It was one of the best movies that kept your interset at all times. It was just a wonderful story line to follow.

What a Surprise! January 16, 2007 Jacob Moffatt (Fresno, CA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I rented this one on a whim, and since I like Toby Keith, I figured at least the music would be good. What a surprise! The story is good, moving, and holds water. Toby is not bad at all as a father who has spent his life regretting his 'scared kid' decision to abandon his pregnant girlfriend. The girlfriend, Kelly Preston, hits just the right note as a daughter who never felt welcome enough to come back home, but worked hard to make a life for herself and her teenage daughter, Dixie. Lindsey Haun is just great as the kid. She's feisty and opinionated, but has been raised with manners and a healthy respect for her mom. Burt Reynolds does a great job as the grandfather who is stern and unrelenting in his disgust over his daughter running off and having her baby. This movie was very well done and the music was good too. It evokes more of an emotional response than you would expect from something like this. We all loved it.
