5 out of 5 stars Lil Kim did well on this one...   June 16, 2000

So, Lil Kim is back with Notorious K.I.M. Let's hope that it's as good as "Hardcore", her debut (and slammin) album from back in the 96. It was "Crush On You (remix)" that really set it off (I know you seen me in the video...true!) - that's when I got the album and I was NOT dissapointed at all. Let me break it down for the newcomers:

    1. Intro - Hilarious skit featuring Lil Cease

    2. Big Momma Thang - One of the best songs feat. Jay-Z & Lil Cease

    3. No Time - Her debut single feat. Puff Daddy (song is still hot!)

    4. Spend A Little Doe - O.K...

    5. Take It! - Hilarious Skit w/B.I.G. and Cease

    6. Crush On You - On this version, Cease takes the whole thing, but it's still tight!

    7. Drugs - The beat is sick! Grimy, like Black Rob (this song is one of my personal favs)

    8. Scheamin - some ol, crazy 'skit'!

    9. Queen B@#$H - If you liked "I Can Love You (better than she can...)" from Mary J. Blige, you'll love this song (where Blige got the sample) B.I.G. has a cool one line verse in here!

    10. Dreams - Hilarious! She's callin out names on this song about who's hot and who's not!

    11. M.A.F.I.A. Land - kinda serious, like 2Pac's early stuff

    12. We Don't Need It - just plain naughty (I liked the version on the Sunset Park soundtrack better though)

    13. Not Tonight - (The original of Ladies Night...very So So Def-ish, with JD all over it)

    14. Player Haters - skit

    15. **** You - A cool peek into Junior Mafia - they should do another album!

So, as you can see, I liked this album so much I broke it down by track! This album is probably the best (consistently) by a female MC recently. Yes, it's nasty and arguably derogatory to women, but if you take it like it is, ENTERTAINMENT, then you'll enjoy. Lil Kim will have a tough act to follow for this one. Stay tuned for my review of Notorious K.I.M...

    Knyte. (Trust Me)

2 out of 5 stars EXPOSING HARDCORE (**PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING**)   July 3, 1999

ladies and gentelman this review of the following cd will be very informative and i hope that it is a big eye opener for anyone who thinks the queen bee is the queen of rap music. this cd has many things wrong with it but it recieves two stars because kim can rap and some songs are good but many need to be exposed to the public. three are 3 major things wrong with this cd. 1)most of the material such as hooks, rap lines, background music, and the general idea is mostly all copied from old biggie b-sides and remixz. Songs like "dreams" and "drugs" have many biggie rembrences. the song "dreams" which is called dreams also on the forthcoming biggie release born again and then everyone will no. she changed exactly one word in the hook b***h to d**k. 2) the production is also terrible puffy, jd, and trackmasters are the only major productions. the hooks are weak and the producers let it go by. songs like "we don't need it", "not tonite" and "drugs" are terrible. puffy i believe rushed this cd to keep up with the higher selling female of the two Foxy Brown. 3) almost everysong has a guest artist!!! some songs such as the intro, take it, crush on you, and playa haters don't even have her in it, and then even though it doesn't say so on the back of the cover everysong that is on the back has a guest artist in it except "m.a.f.i.a land", "queen b@#$h" and "not tonite". "not tonite" doesn't stand up to the quality that kim is able to accomplish. "Queen B@#$h" is probably one of the best songs i've heard this whole decade and "mafia land" isn't far behind either. i gave her two stars because she has a good voice, she could flow, and she doesn't look bad in the jacket but other then that she really needs to see what she can do on a sopomore release-probably something better. thanxz (by da way the album is extremely explicit)

Nothing different about Lil Kim from the other struggling female rappers out there. She needs a new image, and a new style, not to mention some shame.
