    3 out of 5 stars SO?   June 22, 2006

So this album combines rock tunes with the score...So what?It would not be the first time and it will most certainly not be the last..Most strictly score-oriented albums fail..a sad fact but true..the public seemingly does not care about the music contained on most score-oriented soundtrack albums..And most soundtrack albums are aimed towards the 18-25 year old crowd, notorious for thier MTV-inspired lack of attention...to expect most of these buyers to have the attention-span needed to actually sit down for an hour or so and listen to a full-score is to expect the impossible...the big corporations know this, which is why most decent score-oriented albums are manufactured in limited quanties by obscure and speciality labels...This album DOES contain some of the score..it also contains dialouge and novelty songs..As a novelty item it works just fine...but it is NOT a full-score soundtrack album, and those expecting it to be will be disappointed...

1 out of 5 stars Peculiar soundtrack   October 23, 2000

When I bought this, I was expecting the score from the moviewhich I fell in love with. Boy, was I [upset]. There are a few tracks from the score spewed lazily throughout, with lines from the movie tied in at the end of them. What the [heck] were they thinking doing this? Then there are songs from the movie making up the bulk of the album. It's annoying. Very annoying. Who's idea was it to compose this album of score and rock? It didn't work.

3 out of 5 stars If you like spider songs this one's full of bite!   November 18, 2002
    Chad Wichterman (USA)
Normally a soundtrack will have either a song cd and a score cd from a movie or a cd with a mix of both. With the soundtrack to a creepy film like "Arachnophobia" it really takes a new spun of a web! I find that this soundtrack works in a neat way. With inspired songs about spiders original and covered in their new way to get the kids and others dancing with you. Thrown in with music cues and dialogue from the prepost production audio of the film makes this cd a fun enjoyment. I wish that the music cue in the film where Dr.Jennings gets a towel and swats at the spiders before exiting out of the bathroom window was on this cd but hopefully one day maybe Trevor Jones would put out a complete score cd? The only songs on this cd that's in the movie are track 1 and 20 and "Don't Bug Me". I enjoy this cd even when I get done watching the dvd, so let the spiders prevail! If you like this one then get the soundtrack to "Eight Legged Freaks"! Even though it is all score, both that and this cd are great listening enjoyment together, even if you watch both movies one after the other!

4 out of 5 stars Great score, poor songs   August 17, 2001
It's a shame that one of Trevor Jones' most ellaborate and efficient scores gets lost in this uneven album, among a bunch of easy-to-forget songs. The score is really great stuff, though. The Main Theme is amazing: it's worth the buy alone. If you love scores you should give this one a try; rent the movie if you want to know for sure. Mr Jones' music sets the tone for an underrated movie and virtually saves this album.

2 out of 5 stars For the mellow or comatose   June 1, 2000

I bought this album, and I keep it in my collection only for the "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" song performed by Tony Bennett. I don't have any other copy of that song. Otherwise I wouldn't keep this around. It wouldn't be worth the space. It is not that the other songs aren't okay. They are...okay. They aren't terrible. I just don't ever feel like listening to them.
