ALL comes back with more. November 27, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Percolator is one of those albums that is so appealing in many ways yet still maddening. The first half of the album is great, the middle stinks, but it ends well. This means I'm always programming my CD player so that I don't have to listen to "Egg Timer" and "MO. 63." Don't let this discourage you; ALL has some great stuff on this album. Egerton's guitar work is fantastic, especially on the opening track. Even better is Scott Reynold's lyrical work. I don't know, it's just the way his voice sounds in songs like "Nothin'." The band takes a hard stand against commercial radio on "Empty," and short catchy tunes, especially "Dot" and "Minute" are good examples of ALL's kind of punk rock. The hateful (well, resentful, anyway) pseudo-ballad "Breathe" finishes the set, and it's a song all you mistreated guys will play over and over again. This is not the best ALL album (I'd recommend Mass Nerder or Allroy's Revenge first), but it's definitely a good buy.
Good and not so good. Probably only for die hard All/Descenents fans.... March 11, 2008 The Descendents/ALL are among my FAVORITES in my whole collection of CDs (and I do have a TON!). But if you are just getting into the Descendents of ALL I would suggest that you look for a different album. For me, any album from the Descendents or ALL can put a smile on my face but this one is definatetly not as good as others such as "Allroy's Revenge" or "I Don't Want To Grow Up" etc....
But the one thing that does make this album special is that it contains the song "Dot", which is one of ALL's greatest songs, in my opinion. I always go back and forth on who I prefer in ALL; Scott Reynolds, Chad Price, or Dave Smalley. This one is Scott's last. If I am in a Scott mood, then I would probably play all three albums, including this one. But again, for DIE HARD fans.
