Touching and emotional... February 26, 2004 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Brad conveys emotion like Monet could paint flowers...with a natural ease and a unique style that cannot be denied. The uplifting songs on this album will make you feel elated, while the softer ballad-type songs will have you weeping like a child. When I first bought this, I could only listen to it in small doses. Too much would wear me out emotionally, and I would be put off from listening to it again for a long time. I only play it once every 2 years or so, but I still consider it one of my favorites. I remember back in '94, driving my car in the rain, singing along, and all of a sudden, I'm sobbing like my dog died. A few songs later, I'm bobbing my head along to the music like I don't have a care in the world. It's that magical. Most musicians can only dream of crafting songs this real.
Happy to have discovered this band September 23, 2000 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was introduced to Brad through the brother of a friend and I'm happy to have both this album and "Interiors" in my music collection.Apart from being a good collection of music to listen to while doing just about anything, both CDs have special signifigance to me personally and they are very good at rekindling nostalgia. But you have to listen to it first to have nostalgia later, so get the CD now! :) My favorite track to drive to (which doesn't get justice in the sample) is "20th Century." It has a great intro that builds layer upon layer. "Buttercup" and "Down" are also favorites of mine.
Searching November 9, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I actually first heard this cd when I was married in 1994. When my husband and I divorced, he kept the cd. For years I've had it in my head but couldn't get my hands on it. I've actually been looking for it ever since and the local music stores didn't have it. And I was so happy that I found it here, that I was dancing in the shower. I absolutely love this cd and it is a must for anyone who considers themselves to "know" good music. --tabby--
Shame (on you if you don't have this album) November 24, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Essential music for the serious soulful individual tired of the mindless garb of radio. Beautifully written, the delivery of each song is nothing short of mindblowing. I heard this album for the first time 10 years ago, and from the first few bars of "Buttercup" I was hooked. Shawn Smith, is an incredible singer full of raw emotion. The whole album is one of the best, but my favorite song (one I still have to hear every day) is 20th Century ~ GROOOOOOOV-O-MATIC! If you don't own this album, waste no time in buying it, you won't be sorry.
Temple of The Dog-Revisited November 11, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you were a Temple of The Dog fan, knew who Mother Love Bone was and who Pearl Jam is...you will at very least thoroughly enjoy this disc. It's been out for quite a while and I've already literally worn one copy out (no kidding). "Buttercup"'s sensuality is undeniable and "Down" with it's almost eerie feel fills a room with emotion.
