Beautiful March 8, 2000 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
When I first heard "The Hopechest Song", I knew I had to go out & get the CD so that one day I could use it for the father-daughter dance at my wedding. I can't listen to this song without crying. Truly beautiful!
A good album from an underexposed artist February 26, 2007 J. Suh (Milpitas, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not too many fans know of Stephanie Bentley, but this is a fairly good album. She has a nice voice to go along with sweet rhythms in her songs, and she even has a couple of guests that sing along with her as well. "Heart Half Empty" is a nice, smooth ballad with Ty Herndon as a guest voice, and the song has a good, catchy melody. She has a couple of other good ballads on here as well, "Half The Moon" and "The Hopechest Song", which could sound a bit similar to one another rhythmically. As a whole, the album does fairly well, since there's a blend of ballads and up-tempo tunes, so that fans of both can enjoy. You may find yourself skipping around a few tracks, since there were a couple that I found myself avoiding, but it's a pretty good one to add to your collection.
The Hopechest Song will be forever one of my favorites. January 1, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I first heard the "Hopechest Song" on the night my daughter was born. As soon as I could I went out to look for the CD, I couldn't find it and settled for the cassette. I am now going to get the CD as well. I can't listen to this song without crying. I will always think of that special day whenever I hear it. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to know the significance.
Hopeful, but not quite there June 5, 2007 Gen X Music Addict (Minnesota) This album was O.K., but didn't really grab me. Stephanie has a nice voice, interestingly accented. People who listen to albums chiefly for the vocal presentation will probably rate this higher than I do. I listen more for the music, and most songs on this album simply aren't that interesting. "What's Wrong with You" is a good song with a smokey, bluesey quality. If there were more songs like it on the album, it would be a stronger album.
a very good collection April 23, 1999 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was surprised at the quality of the songs and the performances. One of my favorite albums. Buy it!
