Great depiction of the early Pearl Jam. April 10, 2002 Roger I. Camara Lemarroy (monterrey, nuevo leon Mexico) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Back in the days this cd was the only official record where you could get "live PJ." Now you have 72 official bootlegs, most of which contain the songs in this cd, but do not be fooled. There is a great difference in the pearl jam of 94 than the one of 2002. The following is a list of things that have changed in them: 1. maturity 2. ideals 3. intensity remember that back in 94 the band was struggling against ticketmaster, a struggle that rid them of a lot of energy. Today, even though all the songs still have a lot of meaning, they do not have the same anger or emotion that they used to put into them. Today they are not angry young men trying to raise global consciousness, but mature artists that have found different ways to express their feelings, and that have evolved into another level of music.(do not interpret this the wrong way, pearl jam is even better now than ever!)If you are a PJ fan, this is a record you must own, because its a legacy of the early begginings of the band.
A MUST HAVE FOR PEARL JAM FANS! July 30, 2000 Jeff Parrent (Edmonton, AB) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought the Dissident 3 CD collection a while ago and found it so awesome, it was a noteworthy review to write. I didn't find these 3 discs in any packs; I searched for them individually. These CD's contain most of the songs from Ten and Vs with a few highlights that I found especially intriguing. It contains live versions of my favorite b-sides from Ten as well as an extended versions of Porch, Rearviewmirror and Daughter. In Daughter, Pearl Jam continues the outro found on the album version and Eddie breaks into 'Another Brick In The Wall' by Pink Floyd (I saw him do the same thing on Saturday Night Live to a Neil Young dittie). All in all, I found this CD to be a winner; a lot of the songs that you love are beefed up when they play them live. This one comes highly recommended.
A Super Deal ! November 29, 1999 Jose Miguel (Mexico City) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The simple fact that this single contains 7 tracks and is priced as a 2 track single make it a good deal. That the seven tracks are by the best (pehaps only) rock band alive make this single a definite Must. Six of the tracks are live from the Atlanta '94 concert, so they provide a great early Pearl Jam recording sample. The songs and the band are flawless, and much more powerful live than in the albums. "Deep" is particularly outstanding as Ed's galvanic roars pierce through your head, while "Release" never sounded better with Ed's perfectly emotional vocal delivery. Not to mention that the rest of the band is equally absorbed in the tunes. I think this is what makes anything live by Pearl Jam a must-buy. If you don't own any live Pearl Jam, or any Pearl Jam at all, you should buy this. You will get all the bang-for-your-buck. The single will cost you a very small portion of what I payed for the entire Atlanta concert.
No need to diss Dissident. February 26, 2004 JohnnyDoolittle (United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although "Dissident" is an excellent song on its own, I bought this single for its live tracks, and I was not disappointed. It's the brilliant, arena rocking early Pearl Jam style that the world fell in love with (though just about all of Pearl Jam's songs rock, in my mind; it's all subjective, really). "Why Go" is an underrated PJ gem, and "Deep" has some of the best drumming in the band's history.Fans of these songs, plus the amazing "Rearviewmirror", "Release", and "Even Flow" should check out the "Dissident" single's splintering (and in "Release"'s case, simply beautiful) live tracks. And don't forget a live version of "Dissident" is included, too!
Look July 20, 2000 I bought this single when it was first released and it was offered as a Tri-fold 3 disc set that mostly completed the entire Atlanta Concert. As you bought each CD it gave you a new sticker to attatch to the original case. It is a collectable that is worth seeking out.
