Clearly for remix or club enthusists November 21, 1999 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
"In the springtime of his voodoo" is an interesting song in itself. The remixes do it no harm. In fact, I rather enjoyed them. The short "Hasbrouck Heights " mix is really not all that bad, and the longer one is perfectly acceptable for club music, and prefferable to others that just keep drilling the same beat into your head. The standout is the "Quiet Mix", which may completely rid itself of the beloved piano, but it really is a stunning remix, not at all clubesque. Tori loses some steam with the "Sugar Dub", which samples the intro that Tori used for the "Hey Jupiter" single "Sugar" performance. It's a nice change of pace for an intro to a completely different song's remix, but there's almost no singing after the intro. It's barely even a DUB. No matter, because in total, it's great for those who like Tori's music and like remixes. If you don't, don't bother. It's just a nice CD. Nothing more, nothing less.
Sugar Dub rules ! April 12, 2000 Senne Soli (Belgium) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love this track, and I love the remixes. I'm really into remixes, love them. The "Hasbrouck Heights Club Mix" is really nice, just like the "HH Single Mix". But for me, the best one is the "Sugar Dub". It swings. It's really different from any kind of other Tori-remix, and it has a cool, jazzy sound to it. I love Tori her remixes. Too bad you can't get the God-remixes by Carl Craig anymore. I'm really interested in hearing them. And I've also heard there is an unrealesed "Horses"-remix. Too bad she hasn't realesed it. Anyway, love this one.
bland and boring......what was she thinking??????? June 18, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love tori and have many of her cd's, but I would say, stay clear of this. The remixes are bubblegum-boring. The only good thing about this cd is the original track.
great mixes of a great song November 9, 1999 Emma L Shawcross (Perth, Western Australia) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Of all the various mixes of Tori Amos that have been released over the years, this CD is second only to Andy Gray's work on "Raspberry Swirl". If you're not a remix type of person, then obviously you won't enjoy this. But for me, I really enjoy remixes, particularly to study and drive to. I'm very fond of all the mixes here, and I think this single is much better than the more famous "Professional Widow (It's Got to Be Big)"--unlike that single, every mix is worthwhile listening to. If you love Tori and remixes, go for it!
It's OK. September 2, 2007 S. Pugliese (Philadelphia) I like the remix of the song, but I'd only advise buying this if you are a true dedicated fan of Tori Amos and are looking to add something else to your collection.
