| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Music Reviews Fresh Horses was intended to creatively rejuvenate Brooks's career; it wound up as his biggest commercial disappointment, with sales of "only" four million. Brooks blamed his record label, but too many of the songs simply weren't as good as those on No Fences and Ropin' the Wind. The traditional country element is almost completely replaced here by uptempo rockers and folk-pop ballads. With its martial drums and droning bagpipes, "Ireland" sounds a lot closer to U2 than George Strait, and not as good as either. "The Fever" grafts rodeo lyrics onto Aerosmith's hard-rock original, while "The Beaches of Cheyenne" is a rewrite of Bob Seger's "Against the Wind" as a cowboy soap opera. "Midnight Cinderella" comes off as playfully lascivious, but "She's Every Woman" features a lyric so cloying that it'd make Dan Fogelberg blush. --Rick Mitchell

Garth Brooks is my all time favorite singer. I love ALL his work, but especially Fresh Horses. Many people (i have read) do not enjoy this cd. But i dont understand what there isn't to enjoy. I mean most of the songs on there, if not all, are REALLY good. My friends always want to borrow this cd, so i bought two, one for me and one for my friends to listen to. And if you think so what, well get this, ALL of my friends despise country music, but they LOVE this CD, and a couple others of Garth Brooks' cds. If you get the chance to buy, DONT HESITATE!! It is THE BEST!!! Hats off to you Garth!! :)
the song i want isn't on here!!! January 17, 2007 Deanna Sherman (Tampa, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It says online that the song, "To Make You Feel My Love" is on this CD. I get the CD and the song is not on here! I will not listen to this CD. That is the only song I wanted it for.

This is one of Garth's better albums. With all of the compilation and best of albums out there not many people want to buy a regular cd. This is one of my favorites. It doesn't have a lot of filler songs but Garth seems to take it down a notch in this cd. I really enjoyed "Beaches of Cheyenne" and "Ireland." The rest are enjoyable but not as great.
This is my favorite Garth Brooks album! December 13, 2000 Wendy Mac (Capital Region, NY, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm a Garth nut and this is my favorite album! I have ALL of his albums including the boxed set, Double live, Sevens, The Hits, etc., I've seen him in concert TWICE, and this is my FAVORITE ALBUM! My fave song on this album has to be "Ireland" and I'm so sad that he didn't release that song! I can listen to this album over and over again and it gets more play than any Garth Brooks CD in my collection!
