| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com How is a honky-tonk Christmas different than a regular Christmas? Well, the predominant color is blue, rather than the more traditional red and green, and the stockings aren't filled exactly the way they were when you were a little one. But when Alan Jackson sings the songs of a honky-tonk holiday, the spirit is as infectious as can be, whether he's exploring the secular side of the holiday (as on a moving rendition of Merle Haggard's "If We Make it Through December") or delving into the spiritual (as on his duet with Alison Krauss, "The Angels Cried"). The Chipmunks--Alan's special guests on the silly "Santa's Gonna Come in a Pickup Truck"--are a little out of place, but it's a little too Grinch-like to dwell on that one flaw. --David Sprague

Not a fan of honky tonk music September 8, 2008 Whozis (Kentucky) I like Alan Jackson's voice, but I am not a fan of "honky tonk" music. I bought this CD for the song, "The Angels Cried", because it is beautiful duet with Alison Krauss; I also like "Holly Jolly christmas", because I like that old standard (remember Burl Ives?); and "If We Make It Through December", not that I like it that well, but I got used to hearing Merle Haggard sing it years ago. "Santa's Gonna Come In A Pickup Truck" is a cute Alvin & the Chipmunks project, but not my style; "A New Kid In Town" is easy on the ears, but not particularly endearing. If you love Alan Jackson, you may be totally satisfied with this CD.
Honky Tonk Christmas November 22, 2004 Susie Q (forida usa) It's a fun Christmas CD. If you're looking for something light this is the CD because it's not the traditional Christmas music. I love the traditional songs but this is a fun to listen to at a party.
