Lita Goes Back To Basics July 2, 2000 Rebecca L. King (California, USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I like "Black" very much, and feel it was undeservedly un-noticed. With "Black" Lita's talented guitar playing takes the front seat. The keyboards prevalent on her previous 3 albums are only featured on a handful of tracks on "Black". This CD features something for every mood: rockers, ballads, and an instrumental too. In my opinion, the tracks "Black" and "Fall" have a grunge sound to them, which was a different musical direction for Lita. My favorite tracks are "Loverman", "Killin' Kind", and "Boilin' Point". My only disappointment with "Black" is that Lita had written with Gene Simmons, but none of their collaborations were included on the album.
A rock Goddess!!! December 4, 2001 Maria R. Reyes (Las Cruces, NM United States) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I love Lita Ford and I love this ablum. The song black is sexy! and Hammerhead rocks. As well as a real sad song on there Called War of the anegls that song is very touching. I am so happy that Amazon has this cd available because I was having hard time finding it. It had been out of print. Lita Rules!!!!
Arresting heavy metal melodrama! January 19, 2003 jon sieruga (Redlands, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
"Loverman" and "Joe" are so impassioned, and "Where Will I Find My Heart Tonight" is so catchy, I would've thought this CD had 'big success' all over it. Alas, it's been hard to find these past few years, and most Lita Ford fans don't even know about it. She's in great spirits throughout, and although I like the softer stuff better than "Hammerhead", I find the entire CD a great rock-and-roll journey. Lita hasn't aged or dated a bit, she's as clever and cunning and luscious as she was in 1987. A-
a welcome release for the 90's September 23, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I liked this cd quite a bit, though joe, and fall were rather weak tracks. Lita does a fantastic job on vocals and guitar and offers splendid rock n roll on Killin Kind, Loverman, Where Will I Find My Heart Tonight and Boilin' Point. Overall a great album.
Black is wicked!! February 20, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
With heavier cuts and Blues Lita adds new licks to the mix and makes for a f***ing versatile CD that strikes like white hot lightning! No folks this aint just a retread of the 80's sound but this sexy, soulful and sonic disc is still red hot rock and roll from the Black Widow and Queen of Noise herself and in cotrast it makes the pop tarts we are stuck with today look more pale than usual 'cause LITA F***ING ROCKS!!
