    5 out of 5 stars Praying...for you...to JUSTIFY MY LOVE.   February 6, 1999

This maxi single has to be one of the greatest of her career...for several reasons: 1. The q-sound remix: brings out the heavy breathing, and adds a new sexuality to the song, very bass heavy and deep. 2. Willaim Orbit's 12": I love Orbit's remixes of Madonna, and especially their callaboritve effort of RAY OF LIGHT, but this mix is beyond great, adding a touch of sleaze inspired electronica, and great trance rhythm, this mix is album worthy. 3. Hip Hop Mix: A decent mix, very hiphop, as the title suggests, although maybe it would have sounded better if they threw Nicki and Donna in, but that's ok, the best part of this mix is the end when she tells her lover what he can do to her.... 4. The Express Yourself Mix:ok, i guess, but the Immaculate Collection version is superior to all. 5. JML, The beast within mix: this is the most incredible alternate version of a madonna song EVER! It's madonna backed by a middle eastern chant and trance mix, as she reads aloud from Revelation, form the bible, trully breathtaking....reminiscient of ACT OF CONTRITION.

5 out of 5 stars Naked In The Rainstorm...   May 11, 2004

I don't think there is any other song that can be compared to this one, in sexual terms. It's extremely sexy, with sensual beats. While the song has a sexual, haunting feeling about it and very mysterious. Her voice sounds steamy, while she heavily breathes ''I wanna kiss you in Paris, I wanna hold your hand in Rome, I wanna run naked in a rainstorm, Make love in a train, cross-country, You put this in me, So now what, So now what?''. She moans continuously, carrying out the tunes whisperingly, and heavily breathing over darkly intense and sensual beats!-- it's done in such a successful manner. EXCELLENT SONG!

The lyrics are brilliant, Lenny Kravitz is one hell of a talented man to write a song like this!. Oh how I yearn for the day when Madonna does a full-studio album inspired by Lenny Kravitz's lyrics.

And as for the video, it is one of the best videos of all time!, it's very mysterious, sexual and menacing (especially) because it was filmed in black and white. It was also banned from MTV and several other stations, It's definitely not a video for children, it's very controversial and sexually wikiddddd!!!!!!!!.

    You ought to buy this!.

5 out of 5 stars Only Madonna Can Turn Kinky Sex Into A Work Of Art!   June 17, 2003

In April of 1990, Madonna celebrated an international smash hit No.1 single with Vogue, which was followed up by the saucy Hanky Panky and a colossal, sell-out tour in the form of the 1990 Blonde Ambition World Tour. Madonna was riding high, and she wasn't going to give up. In November of the same year, Madonna released her first Greatest Hits collection, titled The Immaculate Collection. The album was huge. This wasn't just your average Best Of collection. The album may have only peaked at No.2 in the US, but it shifted more than 10 million copies and became Madonna's biggest selling record ever. The album also stormed to No.1 in the UK for a staggering 9 weeks - the longest running No.1 album of the 1990's. In the UK, the album has sold near to 4 million copies - a phenomenal achievement for a female artist. So in December 1990, Madonna released the single Justify My Love. She launched a shocking sexual attack on the world. It was the most daring event of her career, and everyone loved it. The song was another massive US No.1 for Madonna, and peaked at No.2 in the UK where it spent 10 weeks on the chart.

Justify My Love opens with the swirly beat of a drum that sounds deeply sensual and very erotic. The beat is incredibly hard and racy, giving the song a very sexual feel. Madonna moans and groans a few times, before starting the first verse with, "I wanna kiss you in Paris. I wanna hold your hand in Rome. I wanna run naked in a rainstorm. Make love in a train, cross-country. You put this in me. So now what, so now what?" The first chorus then begins with the lyrics of, "Wanting... needing... waiting... for you to justify my love. Hoping...praying...for you to justify my love." After this, there is a slight instrumental in which the beat seems to slow down and sizzle from the heat, and Madonna says "OK..." before the second verse begins. I can't type the lyrics, because some are probably too explicit to be published. The song was co-written by Lenny Kravitz, and he adds backing vocals when Madonna's singing. There's another section to the song after the second chorus where the song really gets going, and Madonna sings, "What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? Talk to me - tell me your dreams. Am I in them? Tell me your fears. Are you scared? Tell me your stories. I'm not afraid of who you are. We can fly! Poor is the man, whose pleasures depend, on the permission of another." Madonna then seems to get all more sweaty and worked up before repeating the classic chorus a few more times as the song dies down.

The video to Justify My Love is somewhat legendary. The video was filmed in black and white in a Paris hotel, as Madonna enters the corridor. She has a bag with her, but drops it and starts ruffling her Marilyn Monroe-style hair. We see a dark stranger at the end of the corridor approach her. He walks up to her and starts kissing her before she leads him into a bedroom before making soft-core love to him. The video also features images of homosexual love, fetishes and religious figures. As expected, the video was rated 18+ and instantly slammed by MTV, who deemed it far too explicit to show on daytime television. The video was released on VHS around the world and sold millions - Madonna proving yet again she knows easy ways to make major cash. The video caused moral outrage in America, but it was just Madonna's way of making them face their own fears and misunderstandings. For this, I respect Madonna totally. The woman is never afraid to push boundaries on what is deemed acceptable by the world. She's such a strong and independent woman, with a business mind to rival almost anyone else in the world.

I have the five track US maxi-single version of this CD. It's one of the best maxi-singles Madonna ever released. The first version of "Justify My Love" is just the regular version from the Immaculate Collection, but it is followed by two great extended remixes. Then you get an incredible nine and a half minute remix of "Express Yourself". The last track is an intriguing remix of "Justify My Love" with completely different lyrics. I believe the lyrics Maddona is reciting in this version are taken from the Bible, but I can't confirm that. Here is the track listing:

    1. Justify My Love (Q-sound Mix)
    2. Justify My Love (Orbit 12" Mix)
    3. Justify My love (Hip Hop Mix)
    4. Express Yourself (Shep's 'Spressin' Himself Re-remix)
    5. Justify My Love (The Beast Within Mix)

I aboslutley adore the song "Justify My Love" it is sensual, lustful and artistic. Madonna is one of the few artist that can see sex as an art and this song prooves it. The cd I am reviewing is the Five-Track U.S. Maxi single, which is better than this 3-Track import. This import contains The Album Version and William Orbit Mix Of Justify my love and Shep's 'Spressin' Himself Remix.

    1. Justify My Love (Q-Sound Mix): This version is the same one that appeared on the Immaculate Collection.

    2. Justify My Love (Orbit 12"): An early callboration with William Orbit. This version has an early techno sound to it. It is hot and sexy!

    3. Hip Hop Mix: This version is the best one. The beats here are hip hop and hot!

    4. Express Yourself (Sheps 'Spressin' Himself Mix): The best remix of Express yourself. I love it! You can never go wrong with Mr. Pettibone.

    5. Justfiy My Love (The Beast Within Mix): This version could stand alone as song. It is completley differnt. The beat is incrediable. The lyrics are taken entirley from the Bible's book of Revelation. This song was also performed at the Girley Show and The Re-Invention Tour.

This is one of Madonna's best Singles, because all the songs are so differnt, unlike one of it's preceding Singles, Vogue.
