| Customer Reviews:
Industrial By Name, Grindcore By Nature March 29, 2001 Ragnarok The Black (New Brunswick, Canada) When I was lucky enough to have found a copy of "Industrial", I assumed that it was going to be along the same lines as "Deviant" and "(web site)". Upon popping the album into my CD player, I found that it was TOTALLY not what I expected it to be! Although the politically charged lyrics were still there the fast, where I was expecting the punk-metal guitar riffs, electronic orientated synths, and John S. Clayden's nasaly yet aggresive vocal style, I was instead greeted with slow, crunching guitar riffs, a complete lack of the industrial loops, synths and sequencers I've grown to love, and the deep, growling death metal voice of J.S. Clayden's brother Mark! I was totally disappointed with it at first, not giving it the chance it properly deserves. However, for reasons even I am not sure of, I decided to actually give the CD a thoughrough listen a few weeks later, and found it to be a brilliant piece of work... Perhaps as good as any grindcore band can ever hope to achieve! If you are into bands such as Godflesh, Napalm Death, and some of Sepultura's older, slower stuff ("Territory" comes to mind as a song along the same veins), then do yourself a favor and find "Industrial"; although the name is deceiving, it is a good album that no true Pitchshifter fan should be missing!
