great first effort October 25, 1999 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been a fan of finger eleven for a while and have been trying to get my hands on this cd forever. I was pleasantly surprised that this cd is so good. The sound is different from finger eleven, but the same intensity is there. Also, all the songs are catchy with really great riffs. Great first effort and one not to be missed!
Surprisingly amazing August 5, 2005 Mark Lunney (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's hard to tell by the album cover, title or even the band's name but this is a stunning album, worth anyones money. Under the new name 'Finger Eleven' they have since produced three more great albums, but even the more upbeat songs somehow fail to acheive this level of enjoyability. I couldn't possibly pick a best track, it's an incredibly solid album without a single track that's likely to get skipped. Without a definite style, I really could recommend this to anyone, even if you're not overkeen on the hard rocking 'Greyest of Blue Skys' or more recent balladesque tracks from the self-titled 'Finger Eleven' album. If Finger Eleven go on to bigger things then this could become an extremely rare treasure, buy now and you won't be disappointed.
One above me is bull ---- February 25, 2000 moogle2155@earthlink.net (Green Bay, Wisconsin) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sorry dude, but Finger Eleven is a TON better now then they were in the monkey age. There music style didnt change to much, but they definetly did not take a wrong turn there. Both Finger Eleven, TIP, and this CD are of the best i have ever heard in my music listening life.
How could people rate this LESS than 5 stars January 26, 2000 dave (Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This CD is so good it is in fact THE best Canadian album in existence. Finger Eleven/RBM's debut CD is one not to pass up. Coming from my home town in Ontario, their funk-rock music is amazing. from as far as I can spit, to lets pretend, this is the pinicle of music for mankind.
A funky Finger 11 March 16, 2005 the heckler (Michigan, USA) Obviously, I got the CD because I love Finger 11 and wanted to hear their previous incarnation. The first thing that struck me is just how funky Letters from Chutney is. Featuring many bottom-heavy riffs so much a part of Finger 11's later sound, there is a surprising number of wah-pedals and syncopated rhythms. The formula works really well, making for songs that are just as danceable as they are moshable. The performance is solid and stands as a testament to just how talented a band they are. Think of it as party Finger 11.
