Kenny has always remained the most prolific musician/songwriter in my opinion. "December" proves this once more. The songs are absolutely magical and the arrangements are spot on. From "walking in the air", this CD grabs you and doesn't let you go - and you won't want to be let go. My girlfriend wept to the words on "On Christmas Morning"...such is the depth of Kenny Loggins. I put on this CD as early as july the last year and the year before just to get into the x'mas mood. Its now Jan 2002 but "December" is still stuck in my CD player...and in my heart! I dare say that this is THE christmas album to get if you're a die-hard-romantic-music lover. Go out and buy it now:-)
Wonderful Christmas Music December 3, 1999 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If I only had one Christmas cd on my list this year "December" would be it. Loggins beautiful voice and choice of (original and traditional) material makes this cd a winner.
Sooooothing November 4, 1998 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you're looking for an old-fashioned holiday collection you might want to keep searching. This is not Santa Claus & Jingle Bells. Unless I'm mistaken there wasn't a single recorded jingling bell and that's rare for a Christmas album. If, on the other hand, you are a Kenny Loggins fan like me and you enjoyed "Return to Pooh Corner" then you won't want to miss "December". It feels like George Winston plus a little Kenny G with Kenny Loggin's beautiful vocals. Every song is like a soothing seasonal lullabye aimed at adults. This CD is billed as "a romantic christmas recording" and it truly makes you feel like spending a quiet evening in front of the fire with your sweetheart. Very soothing indeed. My only complaint is that I may not be playing it all year long.
A new seasonal classic December 14, 1998 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
The fact that his last two albums were terribly overlooked hasn't phased Kenny Loggins one bit. This classy Christmas project radiates all the tender warmth and spirit that the season signifies for a lot of us.Besides adequate renditions of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts)" and "White Christmas," Loggins includes lesser-heard classics like "Christmas Time is Here" (from the Peanuts holiday special) and "Walking in the Air" (from the fantastic animated short "The Snowman"). David Crosby and Graham Nash join in on "Coventry Carol," and Loggins originals "Angels in the Snow" and "December" stand up well next to the time-proven classics. As always, Loggins' vocals and productions are top-notch, making for a fine listening experience from beginning to end. This is one Christmas album you'll be happy to pull out every December with the lights and ornaments.
A True Christmas Classic January 10, 2005 Thomas E. Graham Jr. (mechanicsburg, PA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Kenny set out to creat a "Romantic Christmas" album and boy did he ever! There is not one song on here I don't enjoy. Music should always take you somewhere else and this CD does the job! The dreamy "Walking In The Air" sets the mood perfectly and is followed by a stunning rendition of "The Christmas Song" and is followed by Track after Track of more of the same tone set at the beginning. This CD stirrs the hope and love people feel for family and friends, and even some bittersweet memories too.One of my favorite tracks is "White Christmas" and another is "Some Children See Him", both are just wonderful arrangments that deserve a listen to, as well as the entire CD. Good Job Kenny!
