5 out of 5 stars THE BEGINNING OF THE BRITISH POP STARS INVASION...   April 23, 2006
    Lawyeraau (Balmoral Castle)
With the advent of the Beatles, a new era in pop music was inaugurated. The Fab Four brought something fresh and new to the popular music scene, and with it they ushered in the British pop stars invasion of the nineteen sixties. With this first album, The Beatles rocked the music establishment with a saucy, cheeky exuberance and highly stylized vocals. These four boys from Liverpool, England took the then somewhat moribund record industry by surprise...and what a surprise it was!

With eight of the fourteen tracks written and composed by what would become one of the most prolific songwriting duos of the twentieth century, McCartney/Lennon, the Fab Four burst onto the music scene of the the early nineteen sixties, and pop music was never the same again. These early, simple songs are firmly imbedded in the consciousness of most baby boomers. From the syncopated rythyms of "Love Me Do" to the youthful innocence of "Please Please Me", which are two of the biggest singles from this CD, add the enthusiastic strains of "I Saw Her Standing There", toss in a romantic ballad, "P.S. I Love You", and one has the makings of a hit. There is not one bad track on this CD.

Those who did not grow up while Beatlemania was at its peak would do well to begin their musical exploration of The Beatles with this CD. It will ground them in what the magic of The Beatles was all about. It was here that it all began.
