| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com An album that only a devout New York rap-radio fan could enjoy, DJ Clue's The Professional is filled with tracks by chart-topping hip-hop acts who've already been overexposed. It's not even a true DJ album: Clue doesn't mix the songs (which is probably a blessing), and there's a minimum of turntable tricks--just beats, rhymes, and redundancy. Artists like DMX, Big Pun, Noreaga, Nas, and Jay-Z practically have side careers as cameo artists, and while they--along with the rest of the usual suspects--appear here as "featured" guests, fans of their work are better off seeking out albums under their own names. While some tracks are better ("Gangsta Shit") than others ("It's On"), there are simply too many songs that fall into a New York rap aesthetic already taken to the brink of exhaustion. If that's your cup of tea, sip away. Otherwise, reach for something else. --Oliver Wang

DJ "I have no clue how to mix" Clue December 31, 1999 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
Pretty good cd with all of the top name rappers on it (ex. DMX, JD, Redman, Nas, Jay-Z & Ja Rule) but all the cd really is is a cd of for some songs that weren't that good to make it on to the artists album. The only reason I bought this cd was because its the only place to get the Ruff Ryders Anthem remix but aside from that song there are really 3 songs that are any good. You would think a DJ would mix the songs together but there is none of that all Clue does is during the chorus on about every song is say his name and give props to himself
EXCLUSIVE! March 20, 2003 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
EXCLUSIVE! I bought this CD thinking that i was going to get a great hip hop mix. I was amazed at the number of great songs listed in the back. When i put the CD in I almost died! The songs aren't mixed together well at all, his voice is dubbed over at a higher level than the music, and he claims that the songs are "EXCLUSIVE!" The only thing that is exclusive about this CD is his RIDICULOUS voice, and his naieve mentality about being the best DJ in the world...
Could Be Better March 23, 2000 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I think that The Professional is a good cd for ONE reason, and thats because its got some hot artists on it. Some of the songs on this cd are great while others are about as boring as they could possibly get, but thats not why i only gave it 3 stars. i gave it 3 stars cuz DJ Clue doesn't do a single thing with the songs on this cd except say his name right when someones rappin. He doesn't do anything else. Nothing with the beats, nothing with the lyrics, nothing else possible. I doubt he even helped to think up the lyrics. I hope his upcoming cd is better than this.
