Wow... uh... wow December 11, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Mu330... I just can't explain them. They have a way to take super simple non-original music, yet make it sound awesome, complicated, and as original as it gets! This is my only Mu330 album, but, wow, it rocks! There's really no sure way to describe Mu330's style... they're kind of a heavy slow ska... but not ska metal. They have their slight punk influences, but it doesn't show much, which is a good thing in their case. Their use of acoustic guitars adds a kind of rockabilly feel. SO what we've come to is ska-slight-metal-with-punk-rock-a-billy feel... well, whatever it is... IT'S AWESOME!! this cd is great!! A must buy for any indie ska fun.
Less ska, same old MU330 October 16, 1999 James Allen (Tampa, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Comparing MU330's latest effort to their earlier works, "MU330" is more of a movement towards punk than ska, especially from the first four tracks or so, much like Reel Big Fish did on "Rock." Still, you can see the ska influences, and the CD is still everything you'd expect from MU330.
Good, not God March 23, 1999 Josh Katz (houston, tx) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This isn't a bad album, not at all. In fact, many of the tunes are consistent and energetic. Stagnant Waters is my personal fave. But...and of course there's a but...it just doesn't measure up to Press or Chumps on Parade. Sorry. I've been big on MU330 since the early St.Louis days of Salamander Stew (find that one!) and this album just doesn't have the standout humor and leaping-out vocals or instrumentation that their earlier "Stuff" had. This album is still better than the majority of what passes for ska these days. I recommend you check out the new album "Change Up" by fellow Missourians, The Skalars, for more old schoolin' ska.
This was a gift March 18, 2008 Jessica (Littleton, CO) My little brother said he loved this CD, and I trust his opinion. I bought it for him as a Christmas present, he loves punk and I thought I'd find him some local punk music from his state (which is not where I live). I actually talked to someone from the band through their myspace page while researching cds to get for my brother. He seemed very nice.
great great great September 25, 2004 Down Beat (Tennessee) gotta be mu330's best album. great stuff. every song on this album is very well written. the two trombone sound kicks ass (yes, this coming from a trumpet player). I can't really name my favorite songs on this album because they all kick so much ass. Make sure this is your first Mu330 album. go get it now
