This Cd is absolutely brilliant. The indian sounds makes this Rudra a truly unique death metal band. The riffs in Track 1 and 11 are awesome! Just one negative point though -- not enough guitar solos.

5 out of 5 stars Euphoric combination of ancient hindu music and contemporary   March 26, 1999

This CD starts out with flute and table and amazing mantra chants before it kicks in to the greatest metal I've ever heard. Throughout the CD the chants and instruments blend in with unique percussion and heavy guitar style. I recommend it to every music lover.

This is the most amazing Death Metal, I have listen to in many years. Brilliant mix of Indian classical and Western Death Metal. Talent is indescribable.

Haven't dreamt of anything this creative or inventing. This is definitely a gift for any death metal fan or anybody how can appreciate music in various moods n' style.

4 out of 5 stars The Dawn of Vedic Metal !!!!   July 14, 2003

Rudra: Rudra (The first album from Singapore Vedic Metallers Rudra)

Rudra is an essential album for any metal fan. The album takes you to the roots of Hindu philosophy and for once your doubts about the intellect of death metal lyrics are cleared. The lyrics here are so positive and intellectually consuming. It almost forces you to take go and buy books about Hinduism...But this also assumes you have some basic knowledge of philosophy.

The album starts in the traditional Hindu way by saluting the guru/teacher. Soon the metal riffs and the growls take over and all you can do is bang your head without stop. The highlights of the album are amazing lyrics, riffs and non stop drumming. The distinct vocals of Kathir add up to the beauty of the album. The speed of many songs is somewhere between medium and fast and so gives ample head banging opportunities while fulfilling the demands of the serious listner.

This album is a great mix of spirituality and aggression.

Look out for their next album aryan crusade...

My fav. songs are 'Bliss Divine' and 'Sin'
