This CD truly is 'Shiny' July 25, 2001 Ross (I am here and you are there....) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I first saw Kari in the movie 'Anaconda', but at the time had no idea who she was. Then, she joined the cast of 'Sliders'. Having been a fan of 'Sliders' from the start, I figured "oh...new girl...she'll ruin the show, or something like that..." I was wrong! Now I am a HUGE fan of Kari Salin-Wuhrer. When I first saw her CD, I knew I would get it, but I listened to the song clips anyway...they were great! Now, I own the CD...and I love it! "Better Off" is just a totally AWESOME song! I also like "Normal" and "Can't Cope"...and Kari's remake of "Come and Get It" is just GREAT! We have a truly talented actress, model, and singer here, and I hope she pursues her singing career, as she has her acting career! This woman is as pretty as she is talented, and I would buy her next album, if she made one, and I sincerely hope that she does. I suggest that you buy the 'Shiny' album, because it is a great CD, and it rocks!
Surprizing July 18, 2000 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
As some mentioned before, I first noticed Kari in "Sliders", which airs in the Netherlands for 18 months now. She is indeed a very pretty woman. So I started searching the web on info about her and found out she made a CD. I listened to it and bought it right away. It had everything I like in music. Nice rocky songs, complimented with 3 super balads with great lyrics. I especially enjoyed Take Me Now and Better Off. Take this woman seriously, as I believe (and hope) we will here more from her.
Kari the multi-talented goddess January 4, 2000 Vince (NY) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Kari is not only a talented actress, but a spine-tingling singer as well!.Her album is like one big roller coaster ride. There are songs that speak to your heart and soul that either make you happy or sad, there are also songs that are so sensual that they turn you to putty in Kari's hands. Her voice is so angelic, that you spiral into another world, and once your there there's no turning back!.All the songs on this album are amazing, but my personal favorite is BETTER OFF.I'm glad to know that there are at least some fans out there,it intrigues me to think of all the infinate possibilities that the world could offer her if there were more.I'm dying for a release of her next album! .Kari,if you're out there please dont give up your passion for music, music is my greatest passion and without you it would be missing one of it's greatest assets! .
Not nearly as awful as you'd expect! June 27, 2000 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Kari is an exceptionally beautiful woman, and I've always appreciated that. Kari's 10-year show biz resume is nothing more than showing off her pretty face and great body, and I purchased this CD because I expected it to be laugh-out-loud awful. The joke's on me -- it's better than that. Kari doesn't have the strongest voice, but it is kind of pretty and she has nothing to be ashamed of here. The songs are lightweight, but that is probably the exact marketing niche her producers were looking for. I will listen to this from time to time, and probably buy her next CD.
Shiny - if you like Benatar... November 10, 2002 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
If I had to discribe "Shiny" I said it's the writing style of Alanis Morissette with the rock n' roll performance of Pat Benatar. Rock and Roll and Pop. The album was mixed by a genius. Bealtes/George Martin Sgt. Pepper like quality to it. Dynamic and good sound stage, a rarity in todays releases. It's in HDCD there's a difference. Not tone deaf like half of A.M. Jagged Little Pill or DMB Everday. Pyschodelic tape loops, reverse organ and drums in the background. Properly executed backing vocals and dead on timing. "Better Off" the last song piano/vocal. Elton John and Shina Twain sort of sound. But a again with tragic lyric style of Alanis. Proof that she can sing. None of that 95% reverb and Eventide that Brittney needs. Real voice. "Come And Get It" McCartney cover given to Badfinger, she does it justice, no blasphemy here.
