5 out of 5 stars Bar none, the best Madonna dance song in years.   November 5, 1999

I heard the radio version of "Beautiful Stranger" and liked it. I didn't want to buy the soundtrack to "The Spy Who Shagged Me," so when I saw a CD remix single of "Beautiful Stranger," I got it. The extended remix (Track 2) is the best Madonna dance song remix she's put out in years, and I think one of the best dance songs to come out generally. Track 3, the European radio version, puts the US radio version (Track 1) to shame -- it's much more hypnotic in the mix and sounds and gets you moving immediately. All in all, an unbelievably infectious dance song that for me puts Madonna back at the top of the heap. "Ray of Light" was the beginning of her comeback (not that she was ever really gone, but this is the Madonna I like to hear), and "Beautiful Stranger" is the promise of things to come.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Song & Great Mixes To Boot   August 8, 2000

Alright, let me tell you all a little story:

My best friend, Jill, went and bought the Austin Powers 2 soundtrack when she couldn't find the import single to this. She told me how horrible it was except for Madonna's song. She further proved this by making me a tape with some of the songs (including that God-awful Melanie 'Scary Spice' G song. Now you know how she got THAT nickname).

So I made it my mission to find this single, two copies, actually, one for myself, and one for Jill, I didn't want her to have to see or play that bad CD anymore than she had too.

I left early one day for work, so I could stop by the music store and check things out. I scanned, but no "Beautiful Stranger" import. I decided, I had a few minutes, I'd search through the 'M' section. Well, whattaya know? They had two copies of it! I purchased them both and hurried home to e-mail Jill the good news and to play the new CD.

Of course, the album version is fabulous and awesome. It's pure 60's fun pop, and I don't care if she did supposedly rip someone off, it's a great song, and you can't deny that.

The Calderone Club Mix did take some getting used to. I mean, it was nice, but there was something about it that I didn't like. But eventually, I listened to it more and I really starting grooving on the heavy beats and housey music. It's become one of my favorite Mo remixes.

The Calderone Radio Mix is one that I liked since the first time I heard it. It's fresh, funky, and all around party track waiting to happen. It's pure Maddy, and pure Calderone, a combo that surely can't miss.

So if you're a fan of Madonna...Calderone...or even the Austin Powers 2 songs (or song, if you're only in it for this one, which is understandable), then by all means - don't you dare miss out on this excellent CD. It's sure to liven up any club or party and make everybody dance and sing, whilst getting up to do their thing. *LOL*

    5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Stranger-Madonna   April 1, 2000

What a great song. Beautiful Stranger definitely has to be the song of 1999. It's so great. The 60's music and sound effects are awesome. And of course, Madonna's wonderful lyrics and voice made it even more spectacular. She has a great video for this song too. She looks great in it. Everyone should buy this CD, see Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and also buy Ray of Light which started Madonna's new sound of music which is great. Beautiful Stranger rocks!

5 out of 5 stars Great song, great CD   January 12, 2003

This is a fun song . . . the lp/movie version has that '60s pop sound that works great with an Austin Powers movie. The Calderone Club Mix takes a different, dance-oriented, more contemporary approach that is equally involving. A good song can wear multiple faces successfully.

The Calderone Radio Mix is just a shorter version of the Club Mix.

If I had a complaint, my only one would be that I wish there were more mixes included, as someone else mentioned. Other than that, I think this is a worthy addition to your collection.

Did anyone notice the remarkable "similarity" of this song to a certain recording by the 60s pop group Love?
