5 out of 5 stars Awesome soundtrack   August 30, 2004

I don't own the soundtrack, but I am a big fan of Fern Gully's beautiful music. I've been watching Fern Gully ever since I was in Kindergarten, and I still watch it to this day. Anyway, ever since then, I've been captivated by the music accompanying this movie. Since the movie was released in 1992, I recommend it to 80's and early 90's music fans.
The first on the soundtrack, Life is a Magic Thing, it's got wonderful vocals, and a nice tropical feel. It kind of sets the tone for the rest of the movie.
Next up is the Batty Rap. Robin Williams is a genius on this track. This song was very well written and tells Batty's story in a way that only he can tell it.
If I'm Gonna Eat Somebody is a great track by Tone-Loc. The lizard has just caught Zak and is prepared to eat him. Once again, the song illustrates the point better than dialogue alone could.
Toxic Love. Who doesn't love that song? Tim Curry has the perfect voice for a song such as that. He makes it just creepy enough to scare little kids and unease the older ones. It's a perfect combination.
Raining like magic is indeed a magical track. Raffi has a fairly decent reputation for singing children's songs, but this one is a little more mature sounding. It's nice to hear Raffi on something other than kid's music.
Land of a Thousand Dances. The ultimate party track. Pip has just found Zak's tape player, and is acting all macho. Zak steps on the play button, and this comes out. I think this song symbollizes Zak gradually being accepted by the faerie community.
The most beautiful song on the cd though is this next one.
Dream Worth Keeping. Zak and Crysta are just having a good time in the beauty of the rainforest. You can definately see the connection between the two. Sheena Easton lends her wonderful voice on this one. "even when you see the darkness come creeping/A dream worth keeping/Will never fade away...." Come on. Gorgeous lyrics like that sung by Sheena Easton? You can't ignore it.
The track playing as the credits roll is Some Other World sung by none other than Sir Elton John, a music great. It's a nice, upbeat track.

Well I don't exactly have this soundtrack but I love it. I really like the song "Toxic Love" sung by Tim Curry. Anything by him is great. Make sure you this movie it is both great for kids and adults.

This is a very cool soundtrack. I love all the different music genres it includes. There's everything from rap to easy listening. I have always enjoyed the movie, and now I have the soundtrack as the characters sang it originally.

5 out of 5 stars Childhood Movies   March 30, 2009
Little Roma (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I loved this movie, and it was only expected that owning the soundtrack would come later. I have the old VHS version (still trying to get the DVD version) but the soundtrack is AWESOME. I didn't think I'd enjoy all the songs, but once I got reacquainted with them, I just had to put them all on my iPod. The songs are telling you, the listener, about something that should concern all of us and something that we should all be taking steps to prevent (deforestation, pollution) and the love that can grow even in situations where things seem hopeless. They don't make movies nor songs like this anymore: they are the kinds of songs that stay with you even when 10 years, and more, have passed by.

5 out of 5 stars Fern Gully CD I love it!   October 16, 2008

I know all the songs now and I can tell you all the tracks. It's very child friendly and teaches the wonders of saving earth in song.
