You'll LOVE Dolly Parton's The Love Album August 10, 2000 CHEF_CASEY@yahoo.com (Fort Worth, TX USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the best complilation of Dolly Parton's love songs. Most of them, seven of the twelve; were penned by Dolly herself. She obviously knows alot about love and heartache. Among the highlights are a little know "You Are." It's a soft sentimental dedication to a true love that means everything to her. "One of those Days" is a tale of how often she remembers a lost love. Also these are surrounded by all-time favorites. The ever classic, "I Will Always Love You" the most famous duet with Kenny Rogers "Islands In The Stream" and the hit "Here You Come Again." Get this CD, you'll ALWAYS LOVE IT!
First of two early CD compilations June 6, 2009 Peter Durward Harris (Leicester England) At the beginning of the CD era, this budget compilation provided a useful introduction to casual fans, as it contained several of her famous songs, while also being of some use to dedicated fans, as it contained three songs that don't appear very often on compilations, and which were making their CD debut here. Nine of the tracks (Heartbreaker, Bargain store, the 1973 version of I will always love you, Love is like a butterfly, Coat of many colors, Islands in the stream, Here you come again, Jolene, It's all wrong but it's all right) have been released on CD at regular intervals, some more so than others, but even the least frequently re-issued among them (It's all wrong but it's all right) isn't difficult to find. Until 2007, the other three tracks were hard, if not impossible, to find on CD, these being Send me the pillow that you dream on, One of these days (both originally released on Burlap and satin) and You are (originally released on New harvest first gathering). With the 2007 release on CD of those original albums, any need that diehard fans might once have felt for this compilation is now gone. So this CD remains useful as an introduction to Dolly's music, and if that's what you want and you can buy it cheaply, go ahead.
