| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Farrelly brothers Bobby and Peter made imaginative use of Jonathan Richman's music in There's Something About Mary. Now another of their twisted romantic comedies, the Jim Carrey vehicle Me, Myself & Irene, arrives with a soundtrack disc literally half-full of Steely Dan covers by various modern-rockers and post-folkies. Needless to say, this mini-tribute album often fails to improve on the indelible originals, mostly because the singers fail to keep one eyebrow raised as Dan frontman Donald Fagen did so perfectly. Still, Wilco leader Jeff Tweedy's hoarseness and Ivy chanteuse Dominique Durand's sweet bite complement the sentiments of "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" and "Only a Fool Would Say That," respectively, while power-poppers Marvelous 3 have the right idea in cranking their amps for "Reelin' in the Years." --Rickey Wright

Doesn't include the most famous riff in the movie June 30, 2000 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
I bought this and couldn't believe that it didn't include the famous riff when Charlie morphs into Hank - "Fire Like This" by Hardknox. The rest of the songs are typical corporate pablum shoveled onto a disk that was featured in the movie for a total of 5 seconds. Not recommended
The transformation song... April 4, 2001 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
The song that plays when Charlie is turning into Hank (the long drum intro, the "hard to hit a moving target" song) is "Fire Like This" by Hardknox. It rules.

This soundtrack is one of the best compilations of todays next generation of hard rockers. If you like steely dan, you'll love this album.
Great collection of music... August 3, 2000 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a great soundtrack, highlighted by covers of MANY Steely Dan songs. From the modern, pop version of "Do It Again" by Smashmouth to the hard-edged version of "Reelin' In The Years" by Marvelous 3, the covers on this soundtrack represent many various styles. The Brian Setzer Orchestra's recording of "Bodhisattva" is the tightest and truest to the song's original sound, but the new interpretations are enjoyable, too. One wonders why they didn't use actual Steely Dan songs in the soundtrack, but when I saw Donald Fagan's and Walter Becker's names in the credits as musical consultants, that read to me that they must have approved of these recreations of their music. The best song on the soundtrack, however, is NOT a Steely Dan cover, but "The World Ain't Slowin' Down" by Ellis Paul. What a great song - which also fit so well when played in the movie. "Totalimmortal" by the Offspring seems out-of-place on this soundtrack, but most soundtracks have a couple of songs that don't seem to belong. The only real downfall is the ommision of the Freedy Johnston cover of the Steely Dan tune "Moneky In Your Soul." Otherwise, it's a great CD.

I Gotta Say, This Soundtrack Hits Ya and it Hits Hard. I Was First Turned On To The Soundtrack When I Heard One Of The Best Songs I've ever Heard, When I Heard Cant Find The time to Tell You During The Movie. Then And There I Knew that I Need to Go Buy The Soundtrack. I Bought It Later That Day, And I Have Been Listening To It Everyday For The Last Month. So Many Great Songs Its Hard To Tell Which Is The Best, So I suggest Ya Buy The Friggin Album And Find Out. So Lemmie Steal A Line from The Movie When I say Thanks for Readin My Motherfvckin Review!
