5 out of 5 stars Like the self-titled, Love this one   August 7, 2000

I've owned the self-titled cd for a while now, and I liked the clever lyrics Collins used so I decided to get this cd. At first I was upset that I had ordered the edited version, but once I started to listen I was immediately hooked. With a few words missing here and there, I think leaving out a few lyrics actually add to "Promise" while "Enemy" feels like something is missing. The other explicit lyrics are covered in a way that unless you read the lyrics you'd never notice they were originally there. Overall this album is full of good songs with clever and addicting lyrics. My friends and I listen to this cd over and over. Eve 6 definitely made an excellent album this time.

5 out of 5 stars just LOVE it!   December 2, 2001

I love this CD!!! I heard Promise for the first time and it immediately clicked in my head. I couldn't exactly explain what I thought about it, except that I liked it, until I heard the rest of the songs on the CD. I downloaded a Rescue MP3 and loved it, so decided to download the rest of the songs, and before I knew it, I was totally addicted to all of the songs and so eventually bought the CD. I now know what it was I saw in Promise and I see in all Eve6 songs: They're a punk sound, but a sophisticated punk sound. Definitely more mature than other punk bands out there. I never get bored of this CD. The lead singer, Max Collins, writes such deliciously complex lyrics, every time I hear the songs, it's like hearing them for the first time. It's refreshing and intellectually stimulating, but still fun punk, and that's the first time I can really truthfully say that about this genre. I love the grammar and rhyming, every little part delightful in a different way. (Even the title - "Horrorscope"!) My personal favorites are On The Roof Again, (...), Jet Pack, and Bang. Eve6's first CD is also very good, but I favor this one more. The songs on this sophomore album are more light-hearted, funny, and show an aura of experience. This band and all their music scream originality and talent. They are my current favorite band and I look forward to any new material they come out with.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant - no sophomore jinx   August 25, 2000

Brilliant album. Original and not derivative Punk/Pop/Rock music. Max Collins is a wordsmith and the music and production are great. Rescue, Promise, Here's To The Night, Nocturnal, Jet Pack, and Girl Eyes are particularly brilliant.

    5 out of 5 stars Eve6 Rocks!   September 24, 2001

Eve6's sophmore album is the best modern rock cd to come out in a long time. Max Collin's intelligent, ironic, down-to-earth lyrics are great, and the raging guitar riffs are incendiary. There is so much rhythm to this music, that no matter how simple the song structure, the overall sound comes off as mind-blowing. You have to listen to the music a lot to feel its full effect and maintain a youthful spirit, but if you can do that, you are guaranteed to love this album. It is as good as their awesome debut album and even a little better. I hope you enjoy this CD as much as I have.
