| Customer Reviews: Two great and two terrible remixes of an amazing song. July 27, 2008 W. E. Phillips (USA) The final installment of the Isobel trilogy, "Bachelorette," follows our loving protagonist as she goes to the city after years of being secluded in nature. The original (not included here) is a dark song backed by lush orchestrations and a beat that is intended to sound like railroad tracks, according to Bjork herself. To this day it remains one of my favorite songs off Homogenic, which is a classic album in itself. The story-within-a-story video is mesmerizing, also. This single includes four mixes of the song. The first is mixed by Wu-Tang Clan member, RZA. It is not a drastic mix; the song is, in essence, the same. But he has added extra hip hop-influenced beats and drums that drive the song, push it forward, and give the track that extra 'umph.' In my opinion, this is the best track on this EP. The Alec Empire mixes are just plain terrible to me. The Hypomodern Jazz Remix is all over the place, but at least it's a bit interesting to listen to. It has no replay value in my book, though. On the other hand, I absolutely cannot tolerate the Ice Princess and the Killer Whale Remix. As far as I'm concerned, this slightly-demonic mix could very well be the soundtrack to the underworld. This single ends well, though, with the Grooverider Jeep Remix. It is an eerie, trip-hoppish mix. While it clocks in over nine minutes, it's a very enjoyable listen to me and a nice reinterpretation of the track. This single also has beautiful packaging and artwork done by Me Company. Overall, this single is pretty good. I can give Alec Empire credit for being experimental, but the end result was very undesirable. Luckily, RZA and Grooverider were able to provide remixes that are much more pleasing to the ears and do the original track justice.
