    Editorial Reviews:

This collection has a split personality. On one side, there's the youth Moment, led by 12-year-old Aaron Carter, the younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick, No Authority, and Jessica Simpson. On the other side, there are the established artists, who are true surprises. Sinead O'Connor? Cyndi Lauper? Isaac Hayes? So, it's a battle between bouncy pop with its hyperextended beats and clear skin and the ragged tone of world-worn former heroes. Things begin with a surprisingly mellow track from TLC's Tionne T-Boz Watkins (perhaps she can't figure which side of the fence to choose here). From there, the beats step up, and Aaron Carter, Baha Men, and Jessica Simpson all deliver the kinds of catchy tunes you expect. Sinead O'Connor hasn't abandoned her sententious beginnings. Even with the addition of hip-hop beats and a few random electronic noises, she still sounds as solemn as ever, whispering and singing softly. Former Spice Girl Gerri Halliwell updates Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots" without adding or subtracting much. A better novelty is Cyndi Lauper performing "I Want a Mom That Will Last Forever," a sentimental tune perfectly suited for her emotive reach. --Rob O'Connor

5 out of 5 stars Angelica Sings Modified version of SUMMER's Bad Girls!!   November 18, 2000
19 out of 19 found this review helpful

I LOVE this soundtrack!! I think the last track is the BEST song on the whole CD! Rugrat Angelica sings Donna Summer's Bad Girls with lyrics modified for children, indicating misbehavin kids. One line says it so perfectly, Hey Mommy, spend all your money on me.....It's so cute. Children and adults will love it. Other fine songs are included by Cyndi Lauper, Jessica Simpson, T-Boz of TLC..>Worth the money. Pick it up as a stocking stuffer for the kiddies. YOu will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars How could anyone review this without mentioning Mylene?   November 13, 2000

On the contrary to the rest of the tunes on this CD, French pop diva Mylene's tune "L'histoire d'une fee, c'est..." is in French and apparently did not get a lot of attention in the review by Amozon. Well, I do admit I have a high bias towards Mylene but I believe the tune deserves some credit here. After all, it is the title track for crying out loud! Yes, there are some fairly well established musicians on the CD such as Sinead O'Connor and Cyndi Lauper, but who else on this CD has been around since the mid 80's and is still going strong selling out stadium shows through out the new millenium internationally, besides Mylene? And I am not talking about anyone who just copies style of another well-established musician to support their career here. Mylene's tune is definitely very unique in this CD, just like the way her other tunes are in her other albums. What I really want to say here is that her music and lyrics are of outstanding quality and anyone who gets this CD should really pay attention to it. It should not be just dismissed because it's in French and is not easy to understand. Her tune alone is worth the whole CD to me and that is the way I can justify my purchase of the CD. It's really that good!

5 out of 5 stars Great for Rugrats Fans!   December 28, 2000

This is a fun CD for kids. Not exactly my kind of music (OK I admit it, I like Who Let the Dogs Out!). After seeing the movie, I decided to get this for my daughter. She likes to get up and sing and dance to it. The songs are very contemporary and who knows how long their staying power is, but just to get my daughter away from the TV is a plus. You can also use this in your computer to play a game of Sumo Motion. It lets you select dance moves for three sumo wrestlers. My daughter got a kick out of it. There are pictures and descriptions of the Rugrats characters (in case you don't know I guess). It also has links to websites and videos for Amanda and No Authority. I coudn't get the videos to work at the time of this review. It requires Quicktime. I agree that Rugrats can be a rather stupid show, but it wasn't meant to appeal to adults. If it did, the writers would be back to the old drawing board.

5 out of 5 stars The World will be screaming Mylene Farmer   December 4, 2000

Well what can you say about this song track, it is brilliant in fact most of the track on it are great but one singer outshone all others on it and her name is Mylene Farmer. What can you say about that voice as my five years old states " it's like and angel singing". Her vocal strength is justified on this soundtrack but i notice that most of the reviewers left her out. So ok the song is in French why are we being biased towards English speaking singers. This singer give the sountrack flavour in a French way and what will Rugrats in Paris be if there was not a song like "L'Histoire d'une Fée, c'est..." to be a title track. I would say to all the music buyers out there " Buy this one for Christmas" or as we say " You been bad babies"

1 out of 5 stars Ahh, all the people you hate in one convenient collection.   December 12, 2000

First off, let's get one thing straight: The show is AWUFUL! So is the movie, so is this. I mean, Baha Men? . Jessica Simpson? Tim Curry! Everyone knows HE can't sing! Who put Sinead O'Conner on a soundtrack for a kids movie?! I really wonder what they're thinking most of the time on these. The only good song is Halliwell's rendition of the Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made for Walking." the rest can be described in one word: UGH!
