| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Classic rock means different things to different people. But when it comes to the 1970s, kitsch classics reign supreme. Joe Dirt is a comedy that combines the '70s stoner vibe with the air-guitar dreamers of the '80s. There are stacks of both overplayed and overlooked hard rock that could accompany this trip down memory lane. At only 12 tracks, this brief introduction is for those who have never experienced classic rock radio. Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever," Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama," and the Doobie Brothers' "China Grove" are obvious staples, while Argent's 1972 hit "Hold Your Head Up" and April Wine's 1978 track "Roller" border on the obscure. George Thorogood blows out his amp with a pulverizing version of Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love." But the inclusion of Cheap Trick and Eddie Money tips the balance toward pop rock that most self-respecting mullet-heads would never order up on the local jukebox. --Rob O'Connor

GREAT...but incomplete... March 9, 2004 SMK (FDL WI, USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Could have been a 5 star album. Great colection for fair weather classic rock fans, but critical songs from the movie are missing: I Think I'm In Love - Eddie Money Burnin' For You - Blue Oyster Cult Funk #49 - James Gang I Just Wanna Make Love To You - Foghat Hang On Loosley - 38 Special That Smell - Lynyrd Skynyrd Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy
good rock songs March 7, 2002 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I loved this movie more than I thought I would. I think they should have included a few more songs from the movie on the soundtrack. The song when Joe and Brandy are playing around with the dog is also Eddie Money and it's called, "I think I'm in Love".
Good Rock--But Missing Seger!! September 21, 2001 Raymonde B. Wert III (Bloomfield Hills, MI USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Aww man...this could have been a great soundtrack, but unfortunately it is missing probably the greatest song from the movie..."Rambin' Gamblin' Man", by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. But, other than this glaring ommission, it does have some great rock tunes! But this one, but also go and buy Seger's "Greatest Hits"!
Another forgotten favorite April 1, 2006 Jack (Visalia, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just like other reviews have stated, they missed a few good songs out of this soundtrack. One song I notice was The Doobie Brothers' "Listen to the Music." This song was playing in the beginning when Joe tells about how he became friends with Brandy and Charlie, and they're dancing by the barn door. It's weird since they put in "China Grove."
PRETTY GOOD CD EXCEPT IT MISSES A FEW TRACKS March 11, 2006 the whole f'n show 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
OVERALL I LIKED THIS CD, IT HAS ALOT OF GREAT CLASSIC TUNES, BUT IT'S ONLY FLAW IS THAT IT DIDNT INCLUDE EVERY SONG IN THE MOVIE. THE REAL REASON I BOUGHT THIS CD WAS FOR CHEAP TRICK'S " IF YOU WANT MY LOVE" AND FOR 38 SPECIAL " HOLD ON LOOSLEY" AND SHERIFF'S "WHEN I'M WITH YOU". AND I WAS PISSED CUZ IT DIDNT HAVE THAT 38 SPECIAL SONG. I WISHED I COULD HAVE NOTICED THAT EALIER BUT THERE WAS A STICKER BLOCKING THE SONGS LISTED, SO I ASSUMED IT WAS ON THIS CD. BUT I NOTICE A FEW OTHER TRACKS MISSING LIKE BOB SEGER AND LEAF GARRETT. I THOUGHT IT WAS KINDA ODD THAT THEY WOULDNT BE INCLUDED BECAUSE THERE'S STILL PLENTY OF ROOM TO FIT THEM ON THE ALBUM. BUT I GUESS IF YOU CAN DEAL WITH THOSE MISSING TRACKS THEN GO FOR IT, IF NOT THEN LOOK ELSE WHERE.
