After a few weaker albums Death Row comes back much better! May 18, 1999 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
In fact I'd give it a 4.5 rating if I could. Damn, this album has so many GREAT songs on it and only few that are weak (and they are REALLY weak). This album is ten times better than Gridloc'd and it sounds much more like the good old Death Row we all love and miss. It's got many hardcore songs and also a few that're a bit smoother, with an RnB feel to them. Some of the best rappers in the industry are on that album : 2Pac (whose all 4 songs are just amazing, and without a doubt the highlights of the albu,!), Ice Cube, Kurupt, Daz, Mack 10, Snoop Dogg, WC, Nate Dogg, J-Flexx, OFTB and many more. Out of 24 songs there're maybe 4 or 5 songs that I don't like. The rest is just perfect. Songs like 2Pac's "Life's so hard" and Daz's "What's yo fantasy" really take you back to Death Row's greatest days when all the artists were still there, Suge wasn't in jail and DEATH ROW was the top label in the rap industry. This is an important album, because it's one of the last quality albums to come out Death Row, before everything totally fell appart for many reasons.
Nice Soundtrack, Actually Very Good. April 16, 2004 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Gang Related realeased in 1997, about a year after 2Pac was killed. The album features a lot of bangers, but it would have been untouchable if it was a single disc, since it features a few fillers. Here's the perfect tracklist for Gang Related, which would have given it a 5 star rating, instead of 4.1. Way Too Major 2. Life's So Hard 3. Greed 4. These Days 6. Mash For Our Dreams 7. Free'em All 8. Starin' Through My Rear View 9. Questions 10.Made N----- 11.Gang Related 12.What's Ya Fantasy 13.A Change To Come 14.Lost Souls But, anyways this album is definitely worth buying if you like westcoast rap, and if you're a 2Pac fanatic, the four songs of him on this soundtrack are all classics. Must be heard.
Death Row doin it's thang August 30, 2001 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wasn't that much of a Death Row fan until I heard this album. When I first put it in, Made Niggaz was the first song I heard. That's perhaps the hottest joint down by Tupac. That's the song that got me hooked into listenin to Tupac. The song after that with Kurupt was a tight track as well. Skip a lil to 6 Feet wit Storm, well done. Blazin~!! Then Tupac and the Outlaws at the end, another tight one. Then I put in the first CD. It wasn't as good as the Second one, but it still had some good songs on it. "Questions" and "Free em All" were the best on that CD. Tray Dee had a solid performance on it. "Staring At the World through my Rearview" I l kinda liked that one. On "Free Em All" there's a guy tryna sound like Tupac, but that track is still hott. Hollywood Bank Roberry when i first heard it, I didn't like it. that was when I first got it. Now, I heard it yesterday and it was pretty good. Overall: This is tight. A "MUST GET" mos def.
the best June 19, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I heard this for the first time cruseing though a parking lot looking at girls. Everyone was asking what we were listening to. My friend says the Gang Related soundtrack. They all went and bought it then. Man this is good Stuff. If you are a west cost gangstar rap fan you are sure to love it.This soundtrack alone could be a greatst hits. I love all the 2pac songs. Daz really lights it up in way to major. Ice cubes Song Greed is nothing short of a hit.
Another Bomb Album from Death Row during their heyday December 11, 2001 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Almost everything from Death Row after Pac's tragic death gets overlooked and dismissed. This album is no exception. This album, or should I say soundtrack, is bangin from front to back. Pure West Coast beats and rhymes combined with some R&B tracks. It also includes 4 "new" Pac songs for those fanatics. His tracks don't disappoint. Production is handled by Daz Dillinger, Soopafly, Budda, QDIII, 2pac, Nate Dogg, Johnny J, Barney and others. Artists that appear range from big doggs 2Pac, Nate Dogg, Snoop, Daz, Kurupt, Ice Cube, TechNine and Tray Dee to lesser known artists such as Storm, J Flex, OFTB and 6 Feet Deep as well as others. Disc One is filled with hot joints such as Ice Cube's Greed, Way Too Major, Life is So Hard by Tupac, These Days from Nate Dogg, Staring Through My Rearview also by Tupac. Mash For Out Dreams, Free Em All, Devotion and Questions are also some tight songs. Two Wack songs include, surprisingly, Hollywood Bank Robbery which is performed by Kurupt, Snoop and Tha Gang and also I Cant Fix It is not good. Disc 1 gets 4 stars. Disc 2 also has some more gangsta rhymes and beats. Two more excellent Pac songs appear on this disc. Made N!ggaz and Lost Souls are definitely worthy additions to your Pac song collection. The Title Track is something serious and is really a hardcore song. Lady, What Have You Done, and Feeling A Good Thang round out the well above average R&B selection on this album. Other tight songs include Whats Ya Fantasy and A Change To Come. This disc, however, suffers from more filler than the first one. Another surprising let down is that Kurupt's song Loc'd Out Hood is pretty lame as is Keep Your Eyes Open and Freak Somethin. The Worst song on the album is from Young Soldierz, Take Someone Like Me, which is probably one of the worst songs I have ever heard. Despite the bad songs the good ones outweigh the bad. Disc 2 recieves 4 stars. All in all the cd suffers from the double disc syndrome. Tight songs with some filler every now and then. And also a double album may be too hard to digest for many. However you should still give this a try if you liked or loved the Death Row era. Gangsta rhythms and ghetto singing with reality raps and laid back melody. Add onto that 4 brand "new" Pac songs which can be compared to some of his best work and you have a double cd that is well worth the money you shell out. I recommend these cd's!
