So far Krisiun have not made a bad album. May 6, 2006 SpacegrassMan (Insane Land of Words & Music) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Every one of this band's CD's bleeds pure Death Metal. This one is no exception. Too many blast beats, not enough of this or that ... blah blah blah. I find it hard to believe that all of Krisiun's other releases are all almost 5 star ratings and this one falls short because not enough fans who do think it kicks ass failed to put in the review for the band. These guys are right up there with Nile, Kataklysm, Morbid Angel, Deicide, and more Death Metal giants. Enough said. And don't forget to get their latest, AssassiNation, possibly the best yet. SpacegrassMan.
great for brutal death metal fans March 8, 2006 video juegas! (The sticks) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
why did this album get such a low score, look if all of the other krisiun albums get 5s why not this, it's just more of the same. Blinding speed blast beats, and obvious amount of skill and stamina by the musicians. These Brazilians have definatly earned there reputation. So long story short. If you're even remotely interested in brutal death metal, I recommend you pick this one up, and for that matter, all of the others.
Production is poop but Music is excellent. February 20, 2003 Eric Eilers (Houghton, Michigan United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've always been a fan of poopy production like Turmoil's album From Bleeding Hands. Krisiun changed the way they sound, when I heard it I couldn't believe they did what they did but it's perfect. The bass drum sounds like the drummer has a double bass pedal hooked up to a garbage can (I love it). Other than the production, there are some great riffs on this album. Ultimate speed. Just preview the second track and you will be amazed at the riffs in it. This album is speedy and down right brutal, but thats what you get from a band that grew up listening to Slayer-Show No Mercy and Morbid Angel-Alters of Madness.
Not their best... August 26, 2004 ChAoS ReApEr (MA, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
No denying it this is a brutal album, but how does creativity play in... not really at all. This album has a continuous flow to it, but not one of enjoyable structure, it is monotinous. I find that there is to much reliance on blast beats to hold their own on just about every song in this album. As much as I love blast beats, I can't say that they are underused. Blast beats should be able to sustain and bring out the brutal or dark atmospheres in death and black metal. In the case of this album however, blast beats are about the only drumming they lean on; this doesn't accentuate or enhance any existing atmospheres, b/c there are none, the only previous ambience was... blast beats. If you have not already bought this cd, I strongly urge you not to. Krisiun is a good brutal tech band, so if you are interested in these guys then check out 'Conquerors of Armageddon' - it is a much better creative and tasteful release of theirs, not to mention it keeps you interested and not bored.
So incredibly boring. December 5, 2005 Johnny (Boston, MA) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have had this album for quite a few years, and it has never done a thing for me. Tonight I took it off the shelf, dusted it off, and tried for the umpteenth time to listen to it and see what I've been missing. After all, this is one of the most hyped bands in the death metal scene today. Well I'll tell you what I've been missing all these years...absolutely nothing. Utterly monotonous drumming that never varies from the same lame blast beat, monotone growled vocals, and speeding guitar riffs that are really nothing more than slightly more technical slayer rip offs. Only one difference...slayer writes catchy, classic tunes. Krisiun writes an endless series of "songs" that are only distinguishable from eachother by a two second pause in the blasting when the track changes. I tried my very best to listen to this album, with the intention of hearing the whole thing. Once again, I had to turn it off halfway through the second song because my brain literally hurt from hearing such a pathetic excuse for "music". This is honestly one of the most boring albums i've ever heard in the death metal genre. For the life of me I can't understand what would cause anyone to like this. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some pretty relentless stuff. Nile, Angelcorpse, Disgorge, Deeds of Flesh, Napalm Death, all these bands employ blastbeats as the backbone of their music, but all are infinitely more enjoyable than Krisiun. Even Hate Eternal, who belong to a similar school of monotonous blastology, can keep me entertained for far longer than krisiun could ever hope to. With so much fantastic brutal death metal to choose from, why spend your hard earned money on this travesty? Buy this only if you hate death metal and you want to show people how horrible the genre can be.
