    Editorial Reviews:

    Album Description
Prodigy's debut album, Experience, is now reissued in a special 2 CD edition. Disc 1 is the Experience album digitally remastered; disc 2 is the expanded bonus album compiled of remixes and single b-sides, including the rave classic Charly Alley Cat remix. This 2 CD set, in a double slimline jewelbox, now includes all the original mixes of the band's first five U.K. top 10 hits. 2001 XL release.

    5 out of 5 stars Classic.   June 26, 2001

This is a new Prodigy release but it is by NO means new material. The nerve of some people to write such lengthy evaluations of something they are obviously clueless about. Anyway, this is a re-release of Prodigy's first album, which is actually my favorite. It's an excellent representation of British 'ardkore rave in the early nineties, in particular the chart-topping crossover stuff that still managed to live up to the 'hardcore' tag. It's a classic sound, far superior to all the overhyped trance/progressive drivel that's currently in vogue, and also represents the Prodigy at their most hedonistic and euphoric. This was what they were best at, and Experience is one of the *only* full-length collections, not to mention artist albums, of this stuff that's totally worth listening to. All good reasons to purchase this album, but for existing Prodigy fans, the real treat is the second cd of b-sides and remixes, almost all of which have only been available on full-priced import singles. Also, the whole album's been remastered. Go for it. Knowing Liam, the new album won't be out for a good while.

5 out of 5 stars A must by if you don't have Experience yet   July 1, 2001

Experience is a great album, even more so considering it was done in 1991 (listen to Weather Experience - track 10 and you will understand how ahead of his time Liam was at that point). It's kinda funny though how Liam pretty much hates every thing on this album and won't even play any of it live anymore (to my knowledge at least).

If you do not have a copy of Experience yet, it is a no-brainer to get this version since it has the extra disc full of cool remixes. If you already have Experience, well . . . the remixes are good, but I'm sure that if you already have Experience you already know what most of them sound like and therefore know whether or not the extra money spent is justified.

In short, an excellent album recommeded to all fans of electronic music.

Also, it is incredibly amusing to read (as other reviews have similarly pointed out) the reviews from people thinking that this is the "next" prodigy album and then going on to wax philosophic on how it is such a departure from fat of the land and how they stayed up all night trying to determine whether or not it would be a good "first buy" for people that want to get into the prodigy.

1 out of 5 stars Are these the same guys who made Fat of the Land????   August 2, 2003

This album is so horribly repetitive and uncool, it just makes me sick. It's just the same thing over and over again - ultra-fast, scrambly drum loop and squeaky, cartoonish sound samples and vocals.

When I heard the song 'Charly', I got about 1 minute into the song before I couldn't stand it any longer and had to take the CD out of the tray. This is possibly the worst song of any type I have ever listened to.

There are a few listenable songs on the first CD, the second CD is not even worth keeping as a coaster - Pop it into the microwave the first chance you get.

I would recommend avoiding this CD. Buy Fat of the Land (great album), and leave it at that. If you absolutely can't get enough of Prodigy, then get Music for the Jilted Generation (decent album). Prodigy has some great songs, but they sure aren't here. Don't listen to these other reviews - This is one experience you'll want to pass on.

I was late getting onto The Prodigy. While I got hooked onto their later work, I went back and grabbed their older works, starting with Music for the Jilted Generation, and now The Prodigy Experience. I'd have to say they've actually gotten worse over time. This is one of my favorite albums ever, of any genre. There's just too much to like - great beats, high energy, and bonus content thanks to the Expanded version. I wish Prodigy made music today like they did back then.

3 out of 5 stars Buy Experience first   September 3, 2001

The Prodigy's Experience cd was released in 1992, and was a GREAT album, however, the expanded half of this cd is not as great, although there may be some "rare" remixes on cd 2, they are still not impressive. Fat of The Land fans most likely wouldn't like this cd, because up until Music For The Jilted Generation (another unreal cd), The Prodigy was good. Then Fat of The Land came around, and well, although Laim put out some intense, driving and complex beats and kicks, it was too main stream. (Not to put down good old Laim, from 91' til' 95, maybe 96, he put out some great stuff, he was a skilled artist, and still is). So, go buy Experience, and Jilted Gen., and any other of their early singles first, it well be worth Your money
