    5 out of 5 stars Great Pop,Latin,dance mix,and R&B hits put together!!!!   November 20, 2001
36 out of 47 found this review helpful

J.Lo has done it again! Only this time it's better! For all fans of "If you had my love" and "Waiting for tonight" there's "Love don't cost a thing", "Play" and tons of other similar hits. There's even something for everyone like "Carino'" who liked her Latin and dance mix singles. Fabulous #1 tracks and great singles different from her other hits include the catchy "Ain't it funny" and of coarse the #1 Billboard R&B hit "I'm Real" featuring Ja Rule. That is probably the song that makes the Cd one to buy since you don't get this track in the normal version. It also makes it a CD for all Mary J. Blige and Ja Rule lovers. Also her dance mix singles are better than anyone else's hits. Also if you don't really like Steps, you'd love this CD. This Cd is probably great for it's fast catchy hits not counting the "I'm Real Remix" which isn't fast but is great! Although some of her slower singles aren't that good, in the first album if you liked "Feelin' so good" you might also like this. This is one CD that is worth buying. A great artist with a great album! It has something for people with all kinds of Music Tastes!

Jennifer Lopez or J.Lo is one of the few performers who can sing, act, and dance. With This Album J.Lo she demonstrates that. The extra track (I'm Real Remix) is a great song, but not the best on the album. Some people might be saying that she can't sing, but for this type of materiel, she doesn't need great vocal cords.

    1 (Lowest) 10 (Highest)

    1. Love Don't Cost A Thing- 8. Great Song, But you get sick of hearing it after a while.

    2. I'm Real- 9. "I'm Real, What You Get Is What You See" Sings J.Lo. Features A Cameo from her ex P.Diddy. He Sings "She's A Bad Bad Bit**"

    3. Play- 9. A Great Dance Track. "DJ Just Play That Song" The Only Problem is that it could have been longer. This song is just 3min 33seconds. For This type of thing, it needs to be longer to get the feeling.

    4. Walking on Sunshine- 10. My Favorite track on the album. If this song is ever released it will be a great Club Song.

    5. Ain't It Funny. 9.5- This will be her next single. She Wrote this song for the movie "The Wedding Planer".

    6. Carino- 9. Great Salsa Song. It Brings back J.Lo's Roots. A Live Salsa dand played on it.

    7. Come Over- 4. This is J.Lo's favorite song on her album, BUT NOT MINE! If you have weak vocals (Like HEr) You shouldn't let people know. That is exactly what she did in this track.

    8. We Gotta Talk- 8. A Catchy dance song.

    9. That's Not Me- 10. A Great Hip-Hop Song. Produced By Sean Combs.

    10. Dance With Me- 10. You will do exactly what this song tells you when you hear it.

    11. Secretly- 4. SEE COme OVER!

    16. I'm Real (REMIX)- 10. Better then the original!

J.LO HAS SOLD OVER 5 MILLION ALBUMS!

    5 out of 5 stars J. Lo's music rocks!   August 23, 2001

I personally think Jennifer Lopez is an excellent actress and singer. Plus, her music is so cool! J.LO [Explicit Lyrics] is her best album yet, and definitely better than the clean version of this album. Most of the songs are great, but there are some ones that are not so great, too. My favorite tracks on this CD are: "Love Don't Cost A Thing", "Play", "I'm Real", "Walking On The Sunshine", "Ain't It Funny", "Carino", "Secretly", and the Ja Rule Remix of "I'm Real". I actually like the original album version for "I'm Real" better than the Ja Rule Remix, but the Ja Rule Remix is still pretty cool. I think I like the original version better because it's a lot faster and the Ja Rule Remix is a lot slower. Plus, there are like, completely different lyrics on both songs. Anyways, if you are a Jennifer Lopez fan, this album is a must have - it's better than the "clean" album because this one is more mature with no cuts or snipts of the lyrics. In fact, you don't even have to be a J. Lo fan to enjoy this. This album is a mix of Pop, Latin, R&B, and even Techno. So if you like any of those kinds of music, then I definitely recommend this album!

4 out of 5 stars Still Somewhat Uncertain   October 17, 2001

Jennifer Lopez's "J.Lo" may come as a bit of a shock to some. After all, we get that explicit content warning from JUST ONE SONG! Throughout the CD, Jennifer proves that her style and attitude have changed. Everything about the CD is just a bit startling. I remember listing to "Love Don't Cost a Thing" the first time, and wondering where songs like that were on the last CD.

    My favorite tracks:

"Love Don't Cost A Thing"- Very cute song. Not the most original in the world, but different from other pop songs at the time it was released. 9/10

"I'm Real"- This is my second favorite of the album. Very powerful, defiant, strong and sweet all at the same time. It includes a strong backbeat and very interesting theme. 10/10

"Play"- This one gets a bit repetitive, but as long as it's used for a dance track, it's very easily enjoyed. 7/10

"Ain't It Funny" This is by far the best of the album. The fresh salsa style, the playful lyrics and the sweet theme- this song is my ALL TIME FAVORITE Jennifer Lopez track. 10/10

"Dame"- The Spanglish song meaning "Touch Me" or "Touch," though somewhat on the erotic style of Latin diva Shakira, it is a fabulous, fabulous song. 10/10

"I'm Real" Feat. Ja Rule- Really not even remotely similar to the first track, Jennifer takes on a "ghetto superstar" role just as she took on the part of Selena in her late 90's movie- with little true emotion and an inability to relate. It is a very good theme for a song, but it could use to be cleaned up a bit. I think Jennifer needs to realize she IS NOT AFRICAN-AMERICAN before releasing another album. Stick to Spanish, stick to pop, even take on a little R&B, but don't ruin your good songs by swearing all the way through them. 6/10

All in all, I think she needs to realize who she is- and who she isn't- and the next album will be an enormous success. Oh, and I have full certainty that the lovely Ms. Lopez will have another album.

    Hope I helped!

    1 out of 5 stars "I'm Real"?   April 8, 2002

First, of all if you're buying this cd for the "I'm Real" remix...go out and buy Mariah Carey's Glitter CD. Apparently J. Lo isn't so real because she took her I'm real song right from Mariah's "If we" song with Ja Rule. Jennifer Lopez is not a talented singer. She is just trying to be something she's not. If it wasn't for Mariah, J. Lo's singing career would still be where it started. She would have never made the "I'm Real" remix because she has no mind of her own! SERIOUSLY Save your money...this girl is definantly not real! Go out and buy the REAL thing, MARIAH CAREY "GLITTER". Also why can't we put zero stars, thats what it deserves?
