Jamie Rocks, Pops, Sooths, and Salsas On This Clever Debut!! October 16, 2001 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
Most people know Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Meadow Soprano on the HBO series "The Sopranos", however one listen to this album and you'll realize that the only reason she auditioned for the role was because she thought it was about singing (and no I'm not kidding you on that one). In recent months however we have gotten a taste of Jamie's musical stylings. She recently starred in an Off-Broadway rendition of Roger's & Hammerstein's musical Cinderella. Also, you may have heard her cover of Diana Ross's "I'm Coming Out" on the Levi's low cut jeans adds (you know the one with the singing belly buttons). Well, now we get to hear her music full force with her sassy debut "Here to Heaven." This album experiments with just about every genre you can imagine: Rock, R&B, Pop, Hip Hop, Salsa, and other styles. On the album's first track, and lead single "Cry Baby" Jamie sings about holding out until the right time. (a theme not uncommon to pop music). Jamie delivers this message in a strongly R&B flavored pop track that toys with clever dance beats as well as edgy electric guitar riffs. On the album's second track, "Bada Bing," Jamie jokes with her role on the Sopranos (For those of you who are cable illiterate, the Bada Bing is the topless club on "The Sopranos"). The song is about being dignified and not playing into male fantasies. This is the first of three songs Jamie co-wrote on the album. The album's next track, "Pressure," is by far my favorite on the album. It's the edgiest, and most rock flavored song on the album. Jamie co-wrote this one as well, and it seems to have the most relevance to her life. It talks about always being in demand and being so busy you don't have enough time for yourself. "He Didn't Listen To My Dreams," is the first ballad off the record, and it's a very good one. It introduces us to Jamie's voice in its sweetest form, without heavy beats to distract us. On "Ole Ole" Jamie introduces us to her Latin side (She's half Cuban). Here she gets a little sensual as she sings about her sexy Latin lover. "Little Mr. Heartbreak" is in my opinion the best ballad on the album. It has a sense of raw emotion, and Jamie sounds incredible. "You Are My Heart (Tu Eres)" is a Latin flavoreded ballad with sweeping guitar beats and some Spanish lyrics. "Giving Up On You" is a pop track with some R&B influence and some club beats that make you want to dance. "Come With Me" is a pop track with strong salsa influences that Jamie co-wrote. "Sin Ti (Without You)" is a simple yet very beautiful ballad with Latin flavor that shows off Jamie as a vocalist. The album also features Spanish versions of "Ole Ole," "Sin Ti" and "Your Are My Heart". They sound the same as the English versions only they're in Spanish. Overall, this is a great album. It has a lot of experimentation, and Jamie is a very impressive singer. I would suggest it to any pop or R&B fan, or anyone looking for something new and fresh to listen to.

All I can say is she should just stick to acting. Thank- God for having samples of the songs, so I wouldn't waste my money! She has the plainest voice I've ever heard, very bla! Every song sounds manufactured and without any heart & soul.No ballad strength, thats for sure. Some fun bubble gum stuff though, if you like that kind of thing.
"The Sopranos" New Songbird October 21, 2001 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Many fans may know Jamie-Lynn from her role on the HBO hit series "The Sopranos", as Meadow Soprano. Her voice is also recognizable as she has sung the Diana Ross disco classic "I'm Coming Out" for a recent bluejeans ad campaign. On her album debut, Ms. Sigler takes one part Britney and one part J.Lo, and mixes them together for an okay pop record. Far from spectacular, 20 year-old Sigler's material could easily be performed by an artist 5 years her junior. She does take a bit of writing credit on some of the better tracks - "Bada Bing", "Pressure", and "Come With Me" - which do have some hit potential, along with the should be smash which is the debut single "Cry Baby". "Cry Baby" is definitely the album's very best track, and should she become a hit, it will be because of this tune. All in all, a very nice, if extremely common place, pop record for the young actress and singer.
Next Princess Of All Media January 18, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Jamie-Lynn Sigler is one star that is getting brighter everyday. She is acting in a top rated television show, performing in Broadway plays, getting movie roles, has been named spokesperson for the National Eating Disorder Association, and has an autobiography out. This CD is another expression of her talent. She has proven to me that she has the ability to conquer the pop world if she wishes. Any fan of J-Lo or Britney (before she became sex-obsessed) will love this disc. Even I (who usually cringe at pop music) really enjoy Jamie-Lynn's "Here To Heaven." I am anxiously awaiting any follow up CD she may be planning. I know that she will be the next princess of all media.
outstanding! November 2, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was really blown away by this album. I was a little dubious at first because I just knew her from the Sopranos, but she completely excels musically. Her music is absolutely fresh and original. Definitely get this one.
