    Editorial Reviews:

    Amazon.com
Love or hate the Farrelly brothers' excessive comedies, you've got to admire their taste in music. Most notably that means their placement of Jonathan Richman at the center of There's Something About Mary, but don't forget the best of Me, Myself & Irene's Steely Dan covers. Shallow Hal, their smartly conceived romance starring Jack Black and a fat-suited Gwyneth Paltrow, scores with a soundtrack album conceptually driven by strong-willed, full-hearted women's song--Shelby Lynne's "Wall in Your Heart," PJ Harvey's "Good Fortune," Rosie's "Afterlife." Not everything here is as worthy; Sheryl Crow's stab at '80s nostalgia, "Members Only," is a weak joke, while Darius Rucker (Hootie and the Blowfish) is unlikely to start a '90s-nostalgia craze with his solo "This Is My World." --Rickey Wright

3 out of 5 stars Great music, but the soundtrack is missing key songs   August 12, 2002

I hate when movie soundtracks leave off the best songs from the movie, so here are all the songs from the movie in order. Hope it helps.

P.S. That song that is playing when he is dancing with the ugly chicks at the club is "too young" by phoenix

4 out of 5 stars Right artist, wrong song...   February 6, 2003

This is a good soundtrack! However..There are two songs missing that kept me from buying it. The song towards the beginning, when Hal is in the night club dancing with the three beautiful girls(in his view)is titled "Too young" and it is by the group Phoenix, can be found on the album "United". The song played while the credits are rolling, right after the song "love grows where my rosemary goes"..is titled "Comfort Eagle" by the group Cake, can be found on the album with the same name as the song. All this of course can be figured out if you watch the song credits and have counted the songs from the beginning, but I thought to make it a bit easier on all of you out there =0). The soft melodic tunes played off and on a few times during the movie are by a group called "Ivy" and can be found here too..check out the album titled "Long Distance". Otherwise, I would have purchased this one.

    2 out of 5 stars once again,songs are missing.....   November 26, 2001

this soundtrack follows the same ANNOYING
tradition as cds like Bring it on.
the cd lacks some important songs
    that were in the movie.
Some easy to find songs from sheryl
    crow,neil young and edison lighthouse
are there but what about the tracks from
ivy?there isnt any here. What about that
song in the dance club when hal dances
    with 3 girls?not here.What about that
song towards the end when hal goes to
the house in a car?not here.
Some of the songs on this cd simply
dont hold up alot without the company
of the images of the movie.
Filmmakers should learn to avoid putting
songs in a movie which that cant seem to
be able to put on a cd.

1 out of 5 stars The song with the 3 girls dancing   November 17, 2002

The song is not on the soundtrack. The song's name is "Too Young" by Phoenix.

    2 out of 5 stars Don't Bother   September 30, 2002

I noticed several others before me were looking for the same song as I was when I purchased this CD. In my opinion, it was the best song in the movie which did not end up on the soundtrack. The name of the song is "Comfort Eagle" and the group is Cake. This is the 2nd to last song where Hal is driving to the house, and it also ends up in its entirety during the credits. The rest of the soundtrack is forgettable.
