5 out of 5 stars Pretty Good single for Britney Spears   July 22, 2003

The first song on this single "I'm A Slave 4 U" is a Prince inspired sleek R&B songs with a slinky urban beat. it's pretty good although when I first heard it on the radio I thought it was kind of stupid. But after hearing it again at a friends house I became interested in the song.
The second song "Intimidated" is a wonderful funky mix of R&B, pop, and dance with chunky electro-beats. The song is full of attitude and confidence and should have been on her album instead of just being the B side for a single.

5 out of 5 stars Another Triumph For Spears   November 18, 2001

    1.I'm A Slave 4 U (5/5) A hot dance track that's doing moderately well on the charts (debuted at 68, then 58, 58, 55, 49, now 40) It's climbing. It's a good dance track that is seriously under-rated. A great song with catchy beats!

2.I'm A Slave 4 U Instrumental (5/5) You have to get familar with the song first before you can really sing along without losing your place (especially with the talking) but it's cool to listen to even without talking and singing along.

3.Intimidated (4/5) Poor vocals but a catchy tune. I agree with the other reviewer that it reminds me of a Michael Jackson type song. Britney helped write it with Rodney Jerkins and the other people she did Let Me Be, Lonely, That's Where You Take Me, and Anticipating with. Great "B-Side"

4.Interview (4/5) Hard to follow along with unless you have the insert right next to you, but it lasts long enough for an official one (especially for on a SINGLE) Good questions for the most part and gives some stuff about Britney's film. No doubt you can find the text on a fansite.

Another great single for Britney. Next up: Not A Girl

5 out of 5 stars Very Underrated Song   March 11, 2003

"I'm A Slave 4 U" was the first single from Britney's 2001 self-titled album. Although it was a hit, cracking the top 40 and climbing to #27, this song should've been huge. With the possible exception of her debut single "Baby One More Time," this is her best single hands down. Catchy, with a great beat *and a great music video* this is great pop. Plus, Britney's vocals are actually pretty decent. The Neptunes did an awesome job on this.

    5 out of 5 stars A New Millennium, a New Britney   December 1, 2002

As the first single from her third solo album, "Britney," Britney Spears returned to the airwaves with this single that not only caters to the listening preferences of young teens, but also to an urban/dance crowd. Utilizing strong beats and having somewhat of an urban, yet rap-free feeling, "I'm A Slave 4 U" is one of Britney's best singles ever. Gone are the days of singing about adolescent love and other themes cornered by the numerous teen acts out there. This single introduces a new Britney, one in the same caliber as Cristina Aguilera, where she wished to express the she is no longer a little girl. The video for this song validates this, as we see Britney as a now sultry, determined woman willing to explore her carnal desires. This song also marks a first for Britney as it became one of her few songs to successfully cross over to urban audiences (who loathe boy bands and teenage vixens). After it was remixed by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, urban audiences accepted Britney as a member of the genre and their has been no regrets.

"I'm A Slave 4 U" definitely marks a turning point in Britney's career. I only wish that top name remixers such as Thunderpuss, Hex Hector, and/or Johnny Vicious had done remixed versions of this great song. Regardlessly, it's a great song that breaks the music mold set already in place by numerous, and usually talentless teenage solo artists and boy bands.

1 out of 5 stars Oh dear.   February 15, 2002

Is it me or is Britney Spears just getting worse? When I first heard this song I turned off as it really gets on my nerves. The music is grating and not even a very good beat.If you took away the music it might sound slightly better.
Except this is one of those airbrushed over artists who can't actually sing like a little teenybopper anymore because their voice is different. If Britney Spears ever sung this live(which she hardly does and when she does it sounds awful)her voice would be disgusting. So instead she plays the music and does a dance routine.I observed her so called dance routine on a music show and it wasn't any thing classy. She was basically stepping around the stage in her horrible clothes.
I would suggest to avoid buying this as you'll probably come to regret it.Tape it off the radio or something. It will save you money on a below average song.
