| Customer Reviews: One Name Says it All....Kylie July 23, 2002 Luis Hernandez (New York, New York, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Known as the "Wonder from Down Under," Kylie Minogue has always been one of modern music's greatest enigmas. The multitalented Australian singer/actress has achieved great success everywhere in the English-speaking world with the exception of Canada and the United States. In the latter, Minogue was only able to generate one top 40 hit when she recorded a cover of the popular 1960s song, "The Locomotion," back in the late 1980s, After that her entry into the American music scene fizzled as new waves of music started to take over the nation's airwaves.Regardless of her brief success in the United States, Kylie continued to make herself a name throughout the Commonwealth as she produced one hit album after another. Starring in such films as "Street Fighter" and "Biodome," Kylie continued to expand into other markets, somewhat like Jennifer Lopez has done in our present time. However, music has always been Kylie's first love and with the release of "Fever," Kylie has shown that she is the comeback kid of the new millennium. "Fever" comes at a time when the music industry has been sucked dry of all original talent. With an excess of unnecessary R&B groups and boy bands, with "Fever" Kylie has ventured back into a musical genre that has been making somewhat of a comeback lately....disco. Produced by former hitmaker Cathy Dennis, who scored several dance hits in the early 1990s such as "Come on and Get My Love" and "Just Another Dream," Kylie has shelved any beliefs that her music will only sell in Oceania and the United Kingdom. The first hit single from this album, "Can't Get You Out of My Head," was the number one song in over twenty countries when first released. With a catchy beat and creative use of electronica, this song brought Kylie the fame she rightfully deserves. Similar to the style that the Australian group, Madison Avenue, brought to dance music a few years ago, Kylie continues the trend of re-popularizing disco music in a time that listeners can use more dance and less rap. Songs like "More, More, More" and "In Your Eyes" transport the listener to a time when dance was king and rap was just talk on the streets. Similar to her previous album, "Light Years," Kylie has proven that she is a bonafide diva in her own right. With a variety of musical styles such as "In Your Eyes" (trancelike dance single) to "Dancefloor" (fun, early eighties feeling), "Fever" is definitely Kylie's best work to date. This Japanese release differs from most imported versions in that one will find additional tracks and two of Kylie's music videos not found on most foreign releases. Regardlessly, "Fever" ranks as one of the best, most entertaining albums released in 2001.
This "Fever" IS The Cure!!!! December 26, 2006 Trekkie (Southern Calif.) If there were ever a question such as "Why is Kylie the Queen of Pop and Dance Music," here is your answer. "Fever" sets the platinum standard for these genres with its flawless combination of Kylie's sultry, smooth and breathtaking vocal flair combined with masterful songwriting collaboration with Cathy Dennis, Rob Davis, Richard Stannard and Julian Gallagher (to name but a few). This set is a deejay's best friend. Kylie has the knack for turning up the heat with stunning results.
Prime examples of Kylie's genius and talent break forward on tracks such as "Fever," "In Your Eyes" and "Dancefloor" (sultry and purely alluring with dance syncopation that gets to your soul). "Love At First Sight" is yet another diamond in this set with its pure EuroDance flair and, as always, smooth polish of Kylie's spunk and verve. What's more, as a perfect pairing, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" and "Come Into My World" both define the club anthem attitude and sound.
As "Light Years" set the stage for Kylie's continued reign into the 21st century as the pop and dance music queen, "Fever" proves that Kylie retains that title.
"Highlights include "Fragile", "Give It To Me" and "Love Affair"
She's Burning With A Fever!!! January 21, 2003 fabio-italy (milan, italy) Never had i imagined raving so much about a Kylie Minogue CD. But this one is even better than Light Years. Kylie is becoming the Electro-Dance Diva. This album has got a vibe of its own, she's building up her image anew. All the tracks are cool...buy it and you will learn there is more than the worldwide hit of CAN'T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD. LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, DANCEFLOOR and FRAGILE are winners. MORE, MORE, MORE and IN YOUR EYES are the perfect dancefloor-oriented tunes while BURNING UP and YOUR LOVE are freaky but nice. FEVER - the titletrack - is just the perfect pop song off the CD! And if you decide to capitalize on this japanese import release you get 4 extra tracks and 2 videos. GOOD LIKE THAT is co-written by one of the freshest american tunesmiths, Kara Dioguardi. BOY and BABY are soooo groovy, and BUTTERFLY is (I guess) a remixed version of the track appearing on Light Years. Kylie is evolving into someone who aims real high, without any big names in the business in terms of producers/songwtriters. Yet she is doing so good and well. Thumbs up!
Can't get enough Kylie.... June 19, 2002 Voracious Reader (Fortson, GA USA) This is a great compilation of the album released prior to "Can't get you Outta My Head" which has been such a big hit in the States. This album was a big hit in the U.K. and it's understandabe why. Most of these songs will have you singing along or dancing around your living room. Try it out and you won't be sorry.
