If you are a Brit fan, then you should own this CD/DVD. Sure, you already have the 'Britney' album but the bonus stuff are amazing! You know what, even if you're not a Britney fan, you should buy this because the songs are really good...Well not all of them but this is Brit's best album and it's less pop than the others. The best songs on the album are...What it's like to be me:Produced by Wade Robson and background vocals by ex-Justin Timberlake, this song is one of Brit's best. I wish she had released it as a single.
Slave 4 U: This song is a very very good song perhaps because it was produced by the Neptunes ;)
Lonely: This is anther song that's not too pop and I think this is a nother Neptunes production, I'm not sure. This is another song that should have been a single.
Boys: I prefer the remix but its still cool cuz its not too pop and most girls can relate to it."Boys, can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em"
I love Rock'n Roll: This song was recorded for her movie and I think it's a pretty good remake.
Overprotected [darkchild remix]: Again, this song isn't too pop and it's really cool
Not A Girl: Once youi get over the cheesy lyrics, you'll realize how good this song is. Max Martin has done it again!
For those of you who own the American version of Britney Spears' self titled third cd and are moderate fans of hers, you might not wanna spend close to $30 on a cd you already have for a few remixes of her hit songs and a DVD that most likely will not play on your DVD player. I tried it on three different DVD players with no luck. However, if you are a Britney fanatic like myself and want to buy a great cd, it's well worth the money. Every true Britney fan owns the original Britney cd, but for those who don't, pay the extra $10+ for it and get a cd with two new songs not on the American version and three hot remixes including the hit Darkchild remix of her song Overprotected and a DVD that MAY play on your player. This cd is by far the best imported version of Britney featuring the best remixes from the cd with the exception of The Neptunes Co-Ed remix of Boys. As far as all of her cds go, this is definitely Britney's best. It's her most experimental work to date and it'll certainly keep you on your feet and stay in your head for quite a while. Here's a breakdown of the songs on this cd:1. I'm A Slave 4 U: This is still my favorite song of hers. I couldn't get tired of this song produced by the very successful Neptunes who are forever over shadowed by her infamous MTV VMA 2001 performance of the single featuring Britney shaking her hips on a jungle themed stage with a boa wrapped around her shoulders. Very sexy song, I love it. - 5 stars
2. Overprotected: I really like this song which is quite different than it's Darkchild remix, however the album version aka song #2 on the album is a step back for Miss Spears. While the lyrics fit nicely on the album who's theme is growing up, the song sounds as though it was pulled from the Oops I Did It Again cd. Stick to the remix. - 3 1/2 stars
3. Lonely: This song grows on you. It's not bad, but it's not good. It's definitely one of the weaker songs on the cd. Play it if only to hear Britney rap. - 3 stars
4. I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman: I LOVE this song. Released at a time when all things were anti - Britney, this sadly overlooked ballad is about as good as it gets. The lyrics are tender and sweet and honest and any listener can relate to hearing the words that are sung in the song. Even if it does say "Girl / Woman" in it's title. Britney's voice sounds beautiful and the song is a true gem. - 5 stars
5. Boys: I also LOVE this song. Quite like SLAVE, Boys is a very experimental song for Britney also produced by the Neptunes. With a mix between disco, funk and hip hop, the song is one of the best on the cd and is always on repeat on my stereo. - 5 stars
6. Anticipating: Probably the most cheerful song on the cd, one listen to this song's chorus and you'd have to be in a coma not to get up and wanna dance. This song is pop at it's best. Written by Britney, this song is about an anticipated night on the town with the girls and I wish I could go. - 5 stars
7. I Love Rock 'N' Roll: Sounds just like the older version with a little more funk and a little less creativity. Nice, but pointless remake. I like it though. - 4 stars
8. Cinderella: This song was created just to fill up the middle of the cd which could have been done with better songs like I Run Away or Intimidated or She'll Never be Me. This song serves no purpose other than to continue with the growing up theme, but in all fairness it doesn't exactly hurt the ear. - 2 1/2 stars
9. Let Me Be: A nice song just like Cinderella with equally no thought put into it. Good to hear, not good to listen to. No one's getting hurt by it, but she's recorded better songs. - 2 1/2 stars
10. Bombastic Love: Yikes! Sounds like a demented version of Soda Pop from her ...Baby, One More Time cd. - 2 stars
11. That's Where You Take Me: For some reason, as mindless as this song is, I love it. Beautiful, breezy and infectious. Reminds me of something Janet Jackson would do. - 4 stars
12. When I Found You: Also on the Japanese version of the Britney cd, I never got into it. It wants to be an electronica ballad, but something isn't there. Decide for yourself. - 3 stars
13. Before The Goodbye: Sounds like a song Madonna would do. Very creative and it's a great sound for Britney. Lets hope this song is where her future in music is heading. 3 1/2 stars
14. What It's Like To Be Me: A terrific end to the American version of the cd and a great song all around with guest vocals by ex Justin Timberlake, this song will get you groovin and if you pay attention carefully, the lyrics are very meaningful and true to life. Great song and should have been a single. - 5 stars
15. Overprotected (Darkchild Remix aka Video Version): Better than the original version with music that's more fitting to this cd, this is a must have song for true Britney lovers like myself. She looks damn good in the video. :) - 5 stars
16. I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman (Metro Remix): I haven't heard any other remix of this song, but I love this remix. It turns a great ballad into a wonderful dance track. Nice work Metro! - 4 1/2 stars
17. I'm A Slave 4 U (Thunderpuss Radio Mix): One of the more tolerable remixes for this song, there's just no out doing the original. A good attempt though and nice to hear Britney panting so much. That alone gets a star. - 4 stars
All in all a great cd well worth it's money, especially if you are a die hard fan. The only reason it wasn't worth 5 stars is because it is missing several remixes and B-sides such as: Boys Co-Ed remix, I Run Away, Intimidated and She'll Never Be Me. I wish you all the best of luck with the DVD and to Britney I thank you for such a wonderful cd, but remix the song before you put it on the album so we aren't forced into buying your cd multiple times.
