Amazon.com By now, Selena's recordings are like familiar friends, dropping in once a year or so to show off a new outfit that feels familiar, only it's prettied up in some new way. Ones offers 19 of the late Tejano diva's biggest hits, including the bittersweet crossover ballads "I Could Fall in Love" and "Dreaming of You." Every song sparkles with Selena's irresistible personality and rich, full-throttle delivery, especially impressive considering she was in her late teens and early 20s when most of these songs were recorded. The new addition here is "Con Tanto Amor," a three-song medley of "Amor Prohibido," "Si Una Vez," and "Como La Flor," that achieves added poignancy as a ballad. Ones also comes packaged with a DVD featuring Selena's complete video collection, from the shoestring-budget "La Carcacha" to the elegant "No Me Queda Mas." --Joey Guerra

Selena's key cuts remastered...and a DVD bonus! October 3, 2002 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
Selena's most popular tracks get yet another recycling, but in this case EMI LATIN has created the ultimate single-disc overview: all first-rate tracks with no filler! CD-buyers who already have this material may be swayed to purchase this anthology by three factors. First there is the upgraded sound quality ala the recent remastering of many of Selena's recordings. Secondly, there is a very attractive ballad medley CON TANTO AMOR, which combines AMOR PROHIBIDO, SI UNA VEZ, and COMO LA FLOR (all three songs are also heard in their original hit versions here). Lastly is the bonus second disc, a DVD containing thirteen of Selena's videoclips (their first DVD release). It's the ALL MY HITS/TODOS MIS EXITOS set previously issued on VHS, but presented in chronological order and with decent if not exceptional Dolby Digital sound. The videos are variable in quality. However, as an added attraction to this already-recommended collection of Selena's hits, the buyer really gets more than their money's worth. By the way, if you're curious about Selena but have never bought one of her CDs, begin here!

Am I the only one who is sick and tired of all these new and improved, remastered, remixed, rerecorded, limited edition, collectors item "new" Selena albums? Am I the only one who thinks the record company and her dad are vampires, living off her blood? Yes, I'm a big fan of Selena too and yes she replaced Laura Canales as the queen of Tejano. But every time I log on to Amazon.com she has a new album out. Javier Solis was bigger than Selena and he also died while on top and not even his death was exploited like Selena's. She has had more albums release after her death in 1995 than she did when she was alive. That must be some kind of record.
Selena lives on with ONES!! January 23, 2003 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is by far the best Selena collection that has been released to date. It includes all of Selena's hits including Como La Flor, Amor Prohibido, I Could Fall In Love, and Dreaming Of You. There is also a new medley featuring the songs Amor Prohibido/Si Una Vez/Como La Flor that is awesome, the songs have been mixed into a slower pop ballad. This edition of ONES also includes a DVD that features Selena's videos. Overall I would highly recommend buying this set it is worth having in your music collection.
SELENA THE BEST / LA MEJOR October 26, 2002 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is the only Selena compilation that should have been released besides "Anthology" since it includes on CD her biggest hits, new balad medley,(which sounds as if she had recorded it as a balad herself), and on DVD her videos and a documentary ! Welcome new Selena fans and thank you for your touching comments and welcome to REAL spanish music

I work at the Wherehouse and I've heard this CD a few times. It's not very good. I'm a fan of her rancheras, none of which ever make it to these new releases. Which is a shame, because there was more to Selena than cumbias and all these pop remixes. I think the complaints about there being so many "new" albums without any actual new songs are justifiable. And I don't believe that anyone who has given this CD 5 stars was a fan when she was alive. You would think she was bigger than Elvis by reading some of these reviews. Selena came to Tucson for a concert back in '94 and only about a hundred people showed up. More people showed up last year at the New West to watch 50-year old Joe Lopez perform.
