Amazon.com Are Britney and Christina over-the-hill? It's a question the effervescent talents of 15-year-old Lizzie McGuire star/teeny-pop Hilary Duff fairly begs. While the plot of this big-screen adaptation of Duff's popular Disney TV series (Lizzie and pals take a class trip to Italy; she's mistaken for a Neopolitan pop star; comic complications ensue) hearkens back to the days of Frankie and Annette--or was it Mickey and Judy?--its soundtrack is a downright sunny tribute to the power of contemporary teen pop. Anchored by Duff's performances of the bright, ear-candy single, "Why Not," and her balladeer turn as the film's faux Italian pop princess, "What Dreams Are Made Of" (each in two versions), it's a score whose bubbly energy resonates through its covers--Atomic Kittens' take on the reggae/Blondie chestnut "The Tide Is High"; Vitamin C's peppy version of the kitsch classic "Volare"; Jump 5's faithful reading of EW&F's "Shining Star"--and originals like Cooler Kids' infectious "All Around the World" and Beu Sister's "You Make Me Feel Like a Star" alike. --Jerry McCulley

An Okay Soundtrack . . . October 4, 2005 Joseph S. Kennedy (who wants to know?) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
This ISN'T Joseph. (My dad HATES this movie AND the soundtrack). Anyway, I like this CD. I'm going to rate each song: 1. Why Not: 10/10. Good song. Nice rock rhythm. 2. The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling): 7/10. Okay song. Definitely not worth repeating. 3. All Around The World: 100/10! Favorite song on the CD. Cool beat and it just rocks! Definitely worth repeating again and again. 4. What Dreams Are Made Of (Ballad Version): 10/10. Pretty song. 5. Shining Star: 6/10. Don't really like Jump 5. 6. Volare: 100/10! This song rocks too. Vitamin C did a good job with this one. 7. Open Your Eyes (To Love): 4/10. Skip this one. 8. You Make Me Feel Like A Star (Lizzie Mix): 6/10. Not worth repeating. 9. Supermodel: 8/10. Cool fluff song. 10. What Dreams Are Made Of: 100/10! Love it. Cool beat. Good job Hilary! (or should i say "Lizzie") 11. On An Evening In Roma: 10/10. Gotta love it. 12. Girl In The Band: 1/10. Skip it. Enough said. 13. Orchestral Suite From The Lizzie McGuire Movie (Score): 100/10! Good score. Creates a feeling of excitement. However, I;d skip it if you aren't an Original Score type of person. 14. Why Not (McMix): 7/10. Okay song. Like I said, this is an OKAY soundtrack. However, songs 3, 6 and 10 are a highlight.

Better than I thought it would be! July 28, 2003 Willow (Michigan) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Okay, first of all, I would like to say that I am *NOT* a fan of the show Lizzie McGuire or Hilary Duff, but borrowed the CD from a friend, looking for some different music. Well, I found it - and the CD isn't half bad!The highlights of the CD are definately the energy-infused pop songs including: Shining Star (Jump5) - an amazing remake it's fun, fast, and energetic, totally fits the movie. Why Not and the Why Not remix (Hilary Duff) - I don't really like Hilary DUff, but the songs ARE great. They really fit the movie, and make you want to dance. The Tide is High (Atomic Kitten) - The first song I've heard by this band, its great! Has a great message and awesome vocals! Those songs are great, and there are more great ones, but the mediocre ones really really stink. SOme of the disappointments on the CD are: Valore (Vitamin C) - I don't know if she's trying to make a comeback with this song, but it isn't gonna happen. This song is just pitiful! All Around the World (Cooler Kids) - Whoa, who are the singers!? I've never heard of them, and this is NOT a convincing breakout song. It's really annyoing and the vocals are not good. The rest of the songs on the CD are good, like the song Girl in the Band, by Haylie Duff (Hilary's sister) which is great. IMO she's a better singer than Hilary. LMNT also has a great song on this CD. Recommended for pop fans, or fans of Hilary Duff. Overall grade: B
The Lizzie McGuire Movie Soundtrack June 9, 2003 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love the Lizzie McGuire Movie Soundtrack! My sister and I listens to it very often. I often surf the net with the music on, too. Our favorites are "Why Not", "The Tide Is High", "What Dreams Are Made Of"(Hilary Duff), "Why Not(McMix)" and others, but these are the ones that I listened to most often. If you didn't get one yet, go get one now. I guaranteed you're going to love it. Also, I think it'll be an ideal gift for a friend!
Great CD for ALL AGES! June 6, 2003 obryanstars 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
One of my close friends bought this CD, and told me that she absolutely loved it. Well, I decided to listen to a few songs, and found that she was right. This was an excellent CD. Here's what I thought of The Lizzie McGuire CD (my little sister's favorite TV show on DYSNEY).1) Songs: This really does have a bunch of great artists contributing to make a great CD. To begin with, Hillary Duff (Lizzie McGuire) has a beaughtiful voice, as well as great acting, and her songs are just fun to listen to. Her hit single, "Why Not" is something I listen to quite often, and really is a great song. "What Dreams Are Made Of" has an awsome beat, and is a favorite of mine as well. Pop Singers like LMNT, Jump 5, Atomic Kitten, and Vitamin C make this truly a great album. "Tide Is High" is a a great song to listen too, LMNT has a great slow song, etc... It just goes on. This CD has a little of everything, and is great as a Birthday Gift for girls and even some boys ages 10-14 or so. I myself (16) enjoyed it, and would buy this CD for myself any day (shhhhhhhh, dont tell anyone!!!). It just has great music, and I know I'm not the only young (male) adult enjoying this CD. 2) Quality: This CD has a ton of songs you will listen too dozens of times over and over. It has a little bit of everything, from sweet hip hop to slow romance. It has a great collection of young artists, and is just a great CD. The thing I really liked about this CD is it's message. Take a chance, believe in your dreams, and never give up. It's something my little sister pops in the CD player after a rough day at school, or to just kick back and relax. It makes a great Birthday Gift, and well, overall, gets 5 stars from me. Great CD, lots of great songs, great artists. Hillary Duff, in my opinion, can sing. Enjoy the CD! I reccomend it 100% Every song from the movie I believe is on here. It was Lizzie's first (and last), get it while you can. Great CD!
