Nothing New! April 18, 2003 Steven L. Youngblood (Okinawa, JA) 25 out of 28 found this review helpful
I am a huge Toby Keith fan, but what is the point of this CD? Every song except "A Womens Touch" can be found on Greatest Hits One. Plus on Greatest Hits One you get "Getcha Some" and "If a Man Answers". So don't be fooled by this new release. You are better off buying Greateast Hits Vol. One!
Get Greatest Hits Vol. 1 not this set August 3, 2003 James E. Bagley (Sanatoga, PA USA) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
Toby Keith emerged in 1993 with the autographical hit "Should've Been A Cowboy." The rodeo's loss is country music's gain, as Keith has been one of its most dependable hitmakers over the past decade. This collection captures his first six years of hitmaking when he was on the Mercury label. Back then, his specialty was relationship songs, be they humorous ("You Ain't Much Fun"), reflective ("We Were in Love"), or wishful ("Dream Walkin'"). Best of all is the duet with Sting on "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying" which hits divorce from a male perspective dead-on. This set adds only one extra hit from GREATEST HITS, VOL. 1.: the haunting "A Woman's Touch." Meanwhile, available on GREATEST HITS, VOL. 1 but NOT here are the good ol' boy anthem "Big Ol' Truck" as well as "Getcha Some," which offered a dopey delivery reminiscent of the Beverly Hillbillies theme song ("Black Gold, Texas Tea"). Unless "A Woman's Touch" is one of your favorite Toby Keith hits, I'd definitely go with the 14-track GREATEST HITS VOL. 1 over this 12-track collection. By the way, to the person who wonders why "How Do You Like Me Now" isn't on this set: Keith released that on his current label DreamWorks after Mercury rejected it, causing him to leave that label. There is NO WAY Toby Keith would ever let Mercury put it out on their label now.
Toby is fabulous -- this album isn't. May 8, 2003 Deanna (Maryland) 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
I love Toby Keith, but I really don't see the point in buying this collection. "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" would be a much better choice. It contains two previously unreleased songs, plus the same tracklisting for this record, excluding "A Woman's Touch," which was not on Toby's greatest hits album, due to the fact that it peaked at #6 and never made it into the top 5. They should have at least included his 1999 hit, "How Do You Like Me Now?!" on this Millennium set.I recommend Toby Keith's "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" instead of this collection. It's a much better purchase!

I am a great fan of Tobey Keith's music, and I think this album is great! whether the songs are repeated on his greatest hit's or not, people who love Tobey Keith should know that no matter what album it is , We the fans are keeping him at #1. I believe that if your trying to get all his music, you should go all the way even if there's reapeats, so let's go all the way for Tobey, besides we all waste money on other things!right!
Don't buy this! January 10, 2005 Deborah Peters (CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I totally agree with the review "A music fan" wrote. Mercury didn't want Toby's bold and very creative writing, but now they are trying to cash in! Isn't it great they at least sold him his own songs back for the CD "How do you like me now"? They refused to release the CD and the rest is history with his new label. :-)
