Halfway There February 6, 2004 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Beyonce', marketed and produced to appear to be the new Janet Jackson, is a better singer than JJ by about a million miles. It is her marketing and production team that is crippling Beyonce's artistic arc. The marching-band-on-crack horns on "Crazy In Love" are fantastic, but the decision to drop in the now-obligitory ABAB rhyming of Jay-Z brings the record to a stumbling end. Even worse are the mumbled ramblings of P. Diddy (or P-Daddy or Puff Daddy or whatever silly name The Most Overrated Man In Show Business is going by these days) on "Summertime." It could have been a nice record, but the King of Self Promotion killed it. Beyonce' needs to set aside the pseudo-Janet Jackson pretentions and kick the washed up rappers off of her records before I'll be able to take her seriously. If she must ape another musician, Diana Ross would make more sense. Beyonce' may have the pipes to pull it off.
Beyonce Breaks Out August 22, 2003 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I think this CD is awesome and really shows Beyonce's potential as an artist. The single, Crazy in Love, is incredible and Beyonce has one of the most incredible voices in the business. She has been training since she was a child, and it's apparent that all her hard work really paid off. I would recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys good music. I think the world can expect a lot more from Beyonce in the future. She is definately a survivor so people need to stop hating.
catchy track but with Her hype I expect a bit more July 28, 2003 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
while this track is catchy&follows the vibe that Beyonce has done thus far on the Solo tip i'd expect more considering all the Hype&Push She is getting.this track ain't bad but considering that Beyonce is pushed as the 2nd coming of something big you'd expect a knock out catelog type of song&thus far in her Brief Solo career nothing She has done has me thinking She is on the right track.don't get me wrong this cut is catchy but that has much to do with Her taking alot of this track off The Chi-Lites than anything Original that Beyonce or Her Handlers could fully come up with.but if She&Jay Z. Continue to Record&Make Hits Together can you say a Couple with a Greatest Hits Package in the Future? hey if it worked for Ja RUle with Ashanti&J-Lo then why not keep this formula going huh?
Crazy In Love March 21, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The remixes are pretty fun, but I think I prefer the single version above all. I was never really into Beyonce, or Destiny's Child for that matter, but this song's really infectious and the message is cool. ^_^ Pretty cool song.
say what you want about beyonce.. January 26, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
but she's got a way with a groove...destiny's child was an ok group, but they were nothing more than a stepping stone for b's solo career...this is one of the catchiest love songs i've ever heard...she uses a chi-lights horn sample and the bass groove just keeps the song pumping...jay-z provides the rap solo and is in rare form...
