Losing Grip May 31, 2003 Eugenia (Argentina) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This single is the last one for her album debut "Let Go". It contains three songs: the first is "Losing Grip", which is amazing!! This girl can rock out! It says "Why should I care/ Cause you weren't there when I was scared/ I was so alone..." This is my favourite song! Then, the live versions of "I'm With You" (this song is beautiful) and "Unwanted" (showing her "serious" side) and the video of "Losing Grip". If you are a big fan, I recommend you this single because you have to get it!
Ms Lavigne holds her grip with a strong fourth single May 19, 2003 Chris (Sydney, Australia) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The fourth single to be released from Lavigne's multi-platinum debut 'Let Go', 'Losing Grip' is undoubtedly one of the strongest songs in her ever-growing back catalogue. A harder more aggressive exchange between a distorted drum machine and live guitars, Avril wails a strong and catchy melody telling her boy off for not paying enough attention to her.Rowr. This single is an Australian import, essentially the same as the European 'I'm With You' single simply exchanging the title track for 'Losing Grip' and thus the video of the track as well. The two B-sides, 'I'm With You' and 'Unwanted' live from Mexico, are the same. Great cover design (an arty photo of Avril live in concert lit up by gorgeous blood-red lighting), but unless you're a big collector you're better off opting for the Aussie tour edition of 'Let Go'. It has all the tracks on this single, including the video clip, plus loads more.
Great AVRIL single and B-Sides June 2, 2003 Gilberto Alduncin Olmos (Mexico) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Hey, I want to say that as the 4th. single from "Let Go", this shows the "rocker" and "heavy" side of Avril, as last single "I'm With You" showed the lyrical, poetic and sensitive Avril, this one shows us the other face, Avril's side wich is she want us to know, the rocker Avril. Also the B-Sides show us how can potential can be the real live voice of Avril, I'm from México and I was that October 28th. in the Mexico City concert, she really surprised me with her voice and show all of us what she can do on stage. As in "I'm With You", these are the 2 live versions of two of the best songs of "Let Go", even I have to say i like the whole album. Anyway, I have the 4 singles and I recomend 'em. Cheer up Avril!
Fun, but a bit too rough for pop radio February 19, 2005 Person (across the street) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
"Let Go" is hands-down, one of my favorite albums of all time. Comes from that, is a fun rock song called "Losing Grip". It's a little rougher from what Avril usually releases as CD singles. Yes, it's a fun, very catchy, teen-rock-somewhat-pop-but-not-really-considered-pop song.
Here's the problem with this single. Pop radio (which is where her songs are mainly played) will not play this song often, because it's too rock for pop radio.
Yes, it did get some spins on pop radio, and maybe (on some) alternative rock stations played it, but radio didn't like it, because it's too hard for pop, but it's too soft for rock.
