Amazon.com How do you separate this release from the rest in the posthumous Tupac cottage industry? Quite easily, actually. Resurrection is the soundtrack to the movie of the same name, so it does not feature slapped together re-mixes with producers that flaunt below-average beat portfolios. The album does have its share of sketchy moments, starting with the five-second "Intro," which has Tupac mumbling "
now this is the next level with this new album." The idea of stitching together castaway Tupac vocal snippets is nothing new to his estate, and this collection contains four previously unreleased tracks, two amply re-tooled by Eminem ("Ghost," "One Day at a Time") and the other two being duets with Notorious B.I.G. ("Runnin'") and thug du jour 50 Cent ("The Realest Killaz"). Where this compilation differs from the rest, however, is that it culls together music from different stages of Tupac's development, from his pubescent days accessorizing Digital Underground's funk-fuelled sound ("Same Song") to the days where his persecution complex set in ("Starin' Through My Rear View"). Resurrection is executive produced by his mother Afeni, so the motivation behind it is legitimate--for those still skeptical about the modern day Tupac cash grab. --Dalton Higgins

TUPAC....True Unadulterated Pure Art Creator November 17, 2003 33 out of 45 found this review helpful
I've read a lot of these critiques, some of which are obviously from true PAC fans, and some not. I'll just say that the album is tight, but any PAC fan has heard most of these songs before. So I'll just rate a few songs! I completely agree that 50 cent does not belong on the same track with 2PAC. Leave that personal revenge ish to your own album, don't ride PAC's legacy for personal profit. "One day at a time" was OK. "Runnin'" was nice, a reminder of more peaceful times between PAC and BIGGIE. Overall, all of PAC's performances were Great. Guest apperances were mostly supsect! Except OUTLAWS, they continue to be the only original and true riders for TUPAC!!!! Much respect to those cats!Once again, 50 should be ashamed to even be on a track with PAC, disgraceful if you ask me! 50, if you get wind of this review, we'll never love you like we love PAC!! Not as long as you continue to do what you've been doing. Your music has no purpose, and no message!
Tupac Delivers Flawlessly Again November 12, 2003 25 out of 30 found this review helpful
Tupac was a genius - a poet - a lyrical wonder. His vision has contributed so much to young America and given hope to so many people. This album chronicles his excellence in many fashions. By tapping into some of his more brilliant, yet slept on old tracks, while incorporating some new vibes with Eminem's production, the Outlawz, B.I.G and 50 Cent, this album is a must for any tru Pac fan. I know Pac's message always speaks relevance in my life, and everything from the production, the lightly sprinkled cameo appearances and Pac's classic flow, this album will be in heavy rotation for a great length of time..."Until the End of Time", as Tupac would say.
Good Soundtrack January 3, 2004 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Im not very big on soundtracks, but when it comes to Tupac releasing another album, im all about it. Especially when there is 4 unreleased songs on it, Besides the numerous other great songs. Im a big, big 'Pac fan and this is a great soundtrack.5/5 Stars 1. Intro - Weird, Just Pac introducing the new album. 2. Ghost - ***** - May be best Unreleased Song On Album. 3. One Day At A Time - **** -Alright, not crazy about the beat. 4. Death Around the Corner - *****From MATW, Great Song. 5. Secretz Of War -*****From SIR, Great Lyrics, Great Beat W/Outlawz. 6. Runnin (Dying to Live)-*****Good Song, Great Beat. 7. Holler if Ya hear Me -*****-From Strictly, Great Old School Song. 8. Starin Thru My Rear View -*****From Another Movie, Great Deep Lyrics. 9. Bury Me A G -****Some More Older Pac material, but its all good. 10. Same Song -*****Great Song w/Digital Underground. 11. Panther Power -*****Very very old, just listen to his voice. Still has the passion though. 12. Str8 Ballin' -*****Great Beat, Great Lyrics. 13. Rebel Of the Underground -****From 2Pacalypse Now, Great Older Song. 14. The Realest Killaz -****Good Song, not big on 50's Part.

This is so disgusting. Tupac was the greatest but why does everyone do everything they can to make money off this man? Tupac never knew Eminem or 50 Cent... Yet this "sountrack" to Tupac's life features him on the same track with both these people. Tupac's mother as much as I hate to say it is doing what she has to do tomake money and dragging her sons name thru the mud. 50 Cent and Eminem are both typical "pop" rappers today who make music not for the elements of hip hop but for the fast dollar... this album is something I will not buy. As a 100% Tupac fan I am disgusted by this. I urge any real Tupac fans to get this album off Kazaa or burn it from a friend because paying Eminem, 50 cent, and Afeni for taking a legend like Tupac and aiming him towards a crowd that he never intended his music to be for is ridiculous. I have no support for this project. Let the man rest in peace and stop this garbage
PACxploitation at BEST September 16, 2004 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
As it relates to the 2Pac:Resurrection SDTK, I'm gonna keep it short & sweet. PACxploitation at best. And I mean that in a good way. While I was LOVIN' Eminem's reworking of "Runnin"(f/t Notorious B.I.G., RIP), and the joints from 'Pac's older works, the album would've passed for a classic if there weren't such a D12 flavor about the joints featurin' Outlawz...and now that 50 is startin' to pop out...Em could've left him off of Realest Killaz, cause while he's clownin' Ja still...HE AINT PAC EITHER, only a petty thief from up north who got shot up and lived to see another day. But overall, this one's still a keeper if for nothin' other than hearin' Pac & Biggie together. Pac & Biggie, RIP.
