Great Vocal Cast April 15, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
FAME on 42nd street, despite some issues with the direction, is a nice rendition of the show. This CD is definitely the best one to date (of the stage productions). Most of the cast have great voices. The number on the CD best sung, delivered, and consistant is Q Smith's INCREDIBLE rendition of "Mabel's Prayer" sung with ease, power, and great vocal strength. If anything purchase this CD for THAT stunning performance.
Best FAME CD out there! December 19, 2003 R. Chittaphong (Murfreesboro, TN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Okay first of all, the previous reviews were about the show itself and not about the new recording of FAME. Yeah, we all know the book is pretty shallow, but the music is still catchy and fun to listen to. So don't rate the recording by you seeing the show. Rate it by how you liked the recording! As for me, I have all three recordings and this is by far the best recording out there. The vocals are just amazing and the instrumentation on this CD is better than the others. It is a really good CD and if you like the music from FAME, then you definitley need to buy this recording! A couple things that I don't like is that it doesn't include the reprise of "Hard Work" at the end of Act 1, and I am not the biggest fan of the two teachers' voices in this cast, but oh well. Just get this CD and support the cast by checking it out on Off-Broadway ASAP!
Great Recording December 29, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Fame on 42nd Street Cast Recording is one of the best CD's I own. You can feel the energy from the cast from just listening to it. I recently saw the show and the CD brings the magic of seeing the show to you. All the singers voices are amazing. The music is youthful with high energy, making you want to get up and dance. Live Forever.
WONDERFUL April 17, 2004 hcim 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have seen this show, and I love it. Nothing is as good as seeing Fame live, but the CD is still amazing. The actors are wonderful, and the songs are beautiful. I escpecially love Sara Schmidt in "Let's Play a Love Scene." Everyone should go see Fame and then buy the CD!
WOW! June 18, 2004 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
