Music the fans can enjoy? December 4, 2003 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I must say, I first heard Atomic Kitten less than a year ago with "You Are" and have been hooked ever since. And now, with thier newest album, "Ladies Night" I am certainly impressed. The band stayed true to themselves with more original, upbeat, and enjoyable songs like "Always Be My Baby" and "Somebody Like You". And the added remake of "Ladies Night" is in a league of it's own.But with a sticker on the back saying "For copy protection, this CD incorporates copy protection technology. This CD may not be playable in certain devices." I would think this was for the artists protection. But I put it in the stereo in my car (an Alpine head unit, less than a year old) and it wouldn't play. Only after I put it in and took it out at least five or six times did it actually begin to play. This random, playing and not playing, continued even after it played for the first time. I think others should be aware of this. If you want to buy a CD you can listen to in any CD player, be warned. Otherwise, it's another great addition to anyones Atomic Kitten collection. My rating is four of five stars, the fifth is for when I can listen to it where I want, when I want.
Like your light weight mp3 player? Don't buy this cd then! February 11, 2004 4 out of 11 found this review helpful
Do you like the convenience of carrying around a nice lightweight mp3 player with hundreds of your favorite songs on it? Well if so, don't buy this CD because it is copy controlled and you will not be able to rip it to mp3, wma or any other portable format. Unlike previous copy controlled CD's though, this one does come with a specially designed player that installs when you load the CD so you can listen to it on your computer. I love the kittens, but not enough to tote their CD's with me everywhere I go. Furthermore, the only CD player I have anymore is in my boat and it has an auxillary input for plugging in my mp3 player. I use the computer as my CD/DVD player in my house and at work. I really hope that the music industry doesn't think this will increase profits because my CD is on it's way back tomorrow for a refund. Buyer beware, make sure to check to see if a CD is copy controlled before you buy.
A great pop record...without the annoying RnB attempts... March 13, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It seems that every pop artist in the face of the earth has decided to go RnB (for christ's sakes, even Kylie did!) but AK has stayed true to pop, and this, their third album is by far their best. "Ladies Night" is a strong opener, and if you see the video, you will also notice it has a very cute choreography. Next is "Be With You" a breathy disco track with a catchy chorus. Other highlights on the album are "Everything Goes Around", "If You Come To Me", the gorgeous "Someone Like Me" and "Nothing In The World". As for more dance tracks, there's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", "Somebody Like Me" and "Loving You". The only bland moment on the album is the song "Don't You Know", but the rest is pure class. However, the outstanding track on this album is "I Won't Be There", one of the best kitten songs recorded. The album won't turn your life around, is not meaningful and deep, but you will have lots of fun listening to it.
Most Amazing CD Yet-- November 25, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I first started listening to Ak after hearing Tide Is High about a year ago, and after buying Feels So Good, I didn't think any other song will grow on me like the pop songs on FSG did. Ak's trademark is their beautiful harmonies, catchy melodies and sweet (not sappy) songs - the blend that is most refreshing to the boring rnb and obnoxious rap songs that cluttered the american radio. Anyways, this album is as OPPOSITE of the word 'boring' as possible - even the ballads which are usually a slow aural torture when done by even good artists are captivating. In fact, "Believer", "Don't Let Me Down" and "Nothing in the World" are my favorites. The other sort-of slow songs are good too - the first single "If You Come To Me" is done quite nicely (though the lyrics could be better, or it's just me). The RnB-ish tracks are extremely catchy - "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" is like Whoa! and will leave you humming along all day long. "Don't You Know" has great lyrics and everyone I showed it to loved it, and "Loving You" is cool too. The title track is a classic pop and also memorable. Atomic Kitten really did a good job writing and singing this album - I can't wait for what they will have out next!!!!
