Amazon.com Consider Disneymania 2 a second prep course on the pleasures of power pop: perfect for those not ready to make the leap to top 40, or packs of kids whose parents won't let them tune in to Christina Aguilera. With the help of Raven ("True to Your Heart"), Hilary Duff and her sister, Haylie Duff ("Siamese Cat Song"), and cutiepie boy bands like Jump 5 ("Welcome Song") and LMNT ("A Whole New World"), tweens won't suspect they're missing out on the "seedy stuff." It's easy to get swept up in the vibe these artists are sending out. Never mind that Stevie Brock belts out "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" or Daniel Bedingfield sings "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes"--they sound convincingly heartthrobby doing it. A more impressive feat is this disc's parental appeal. With "Mania 2," Disney proves that any pop can be infectious when it's performed right. --Tammy La Gorce

DISNEYMANIA 2! A GREAT CD! January 31, 2004 29 out of 34 found this review helpful
Disneymania 2 is another collection of fantastic songs that are sung by fantastic artists! Jump 5 does a great job of singing the first track, "Welcome" from the motion picture "BROTHER BEAR", and Raven sings, "True To Your Heart" from the motion picture, "MULAN"! All of the songs on this album are absolutely amazing! It's so cool to know that artists like; Hilary Duff, Raven, & Daniel Bedingfield are singing the Disney songs there way on this second collection of Disneymania! 01) "Welcome" JUMP5 02) "True To Your Heart" RAVEN 03) "It's A Small World" BAHA MEN 04) "He's A Tramp" THE BEAU SISTERS 05) "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" STEVIE BROCK 06) "The Siamese Cat Song" HILARY & HAYLIE DUFF 07) "Circle Of Life" DISNEY CHANNEL CIRCLE OF STARS 08) "A Whole New World" LMNT 09) "Once Upon Another Dream" NO SECRETS 10) "Anytime You Need A Friend" THE BEAU SISTERS 11) "The Second Star To The Right" JESSE MCCARTNEY 12) "When You Wish Upon A Star" ASHLEY GEARING 13) "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" DANIEL BEDINGFIELD 14) "Baroque Hoedown (From Disney's Electrical Parade) THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS

Much Better Than The Original, I Was Very Shocked! July 19, 2005 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
You might recognize me also reviewing Disneymania (check it out, it's three stars) and how I was complaining so much about it. Well, good news: This album is way better than the first! With much better songs by much better artists, this is the second-best right now (Disneymania 3 rocks the best)! Some of the many highlights included songs by the Duff sisters, the Disney Channel Circle Of Stars, and LMNT. Now, my opinion on the whole album:
1. Jump5 - Welcome (10/10) Much better opening than on Disneymania 1. Fun song, more beter and upbeat than the version by Phil Collins and The Blind Boys Of Alabama.
2. Raven - True To Your Heart (10/10) Not as good as the one by 98 Degrees and Stevie Wonder, but I still give it ten stars because it is a fun and bubbly song (as with most of Raven's songs).
3. Baha Men - It's A Small World (10/10) A little more techno than the original, I love this one much better!
4. The Beu Sisters - He's A Tramp (5/10) Okay...I guess.
5. Stevie Brock - Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah (9/10) Fun and bubbly little song, Stevie matures a tad with this song.
6. Hilary and Haylie Duff - The Siamese Cat Song (10/10) Certainly a very unique song, this one was cute for the Duffs. It was a good idea for these pop sisters to collaborate and make such a dull and boring song more fun, bubbly, and upbeat.
7. Disney Channel Circle Of Stars - Circle Of Life (10/10) You can certainly say it was better than the original with lent vocals from Hilary Duff, A.J. Trauth, Raven, Kyla Pratt, and more.
8. LMNT - A Whole New World (10/10) Fun and so much different and unique from the original!
9. no secrets - Once Upon (Another) Dream (8/10) It kind of bored me a bit, but you can say it was okay...right?
10. The Beu Sisters - Anytime You Need A Friend (10/10) Better than the other song from them on here. I'm so glad that they did a cover of the Alan Menken song. More fast and bubbly.
11. Jesse McCartney - The Second Star To The Right (10/10) Cute, bubbly, song. Breaking out of Dream Street, this seventeen year old has a powerful and "beautiful" voice.
12. Ashley Gearing - When You Wish Upon A Star (9/10) Somewhat a lullaby, somewhat a dull song, somewhat beautiful!
13. Daniel Bedingfield - A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes (2/10) I didn't really dig the slow part, nor the jazzy part. So annoying! The Disney Channel Circle Of Stars version is better.
14. They Might Be Giants - Baroque Howedown (from Disney's Electrical Parade) (5/10) Cute, bubbly song, but I'm not digging the instrumental.
fine Disney album with lots to enjoy... June 16, 2008 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Disneymania 2 is not just for kids--it's for the child inside of me, too! This album is chock full of peppy tunes that make me smile. The quality of the sound is excellent and the artwork is very nicely done.
"Welcome" by Jump 5 has kids and "tweens" everywhere enjoying their teen pop sound! The percussion helps to mark the beat and Jump 5 sings this upbeat, catchy melody with all their might; and this helps to make "Welcome" a solid introductory number for this album. Great! "True To Your Heart" gets the royal treatment from Raven; Raven sings and plays this to perfection--and wow, what a number! This is yet another upbeat number from the folks at Disney and it really has a great pop beat. "True To Your Heart" is clearly a major highlight on this album. In addition, "It's a Small World" by Baha Men at first sounds quite different from the music you hear on the ride at Disneyworld and Disneyland; but the chorus is very much the same and the reggae treatment is really very well done. "It's a Small World" brings back so many fond memories for me of taking this ride with my mother when we were at Disneyland back in '72. I loved the ride then; and this music reminds me of how much I still love this charming ride even today.
"Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" gets the royal treatment from Stevie Brock; Stevie sings this with passion and the pop flavor of this rendition makes it very strong and yet true to the original arrangement all at once. "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" is one of my very favorite Disney tunes; and if you're lucky enough to catch the 3 o'clock afternoon parade down Disney's Magic Kingdom Main Street USA you just may hear this tune as the parade passes in front of you! "Circle of Life" is a very beautiful melody with great lyrics performed here by The Disney Channel Circle of Stars. "Circle Of Life" always moves me with its beauty and its message and that's grand.
"Anytime You Need A Friend" by The Beu Sisters has a great pop beat to it that has just a hint of hip hop and this all works very well. The chorus is excellent and The Beu Sisters really make this their own as they sing this one out right! "When You Wish Upon a Star" is another stunning Disney classic tune; Ashley Gearing sings this with lots of feeling and I'm very impressed with this young lady's voice. I hope to hear more from Ashley Gearing very soon!
"A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" gets a very sensitive arrangement from Daniel Bedingfield. Daniel's incredible sense of timing and his excellent diction bolster his performance; and the CD also ends very nicely with They Might Be Giants performing the "Baroque Hoedown" that you may recognize from Disney's nighttime Main Street electrical parade.
Overall, Disney fans will love this one--and people who like teen pop and today's pop in general will really enjoy this album. Thank you, everyone!
Takes you back in time! A MUST buy! July 3, 2004 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
If you had ever seen a Disney "Classic," such as Cinderella or The Lion King, you will ADORE this CD. It takes you back to your childhood, when you first saw the movie. Of course, I wanted more songs in this CD, such as "Colors of the Wind," which I love. And more songs from "The Lion King" (all three of them) and the Jungle Book. "Look for the bear..."1. Welcome (Brother Bear)-Jump5. I like it. It has a modern beat to it. And I loved hearing part on it on "Brother Bear." But still, I don't know if Jump5 had the voices to sing it, and the lyrics are okay. 4/5 2. True to Your Heart (Mulan)-Raven. Now, I love this one! Raven adds a classy and modern voice to this song from the popular movie. I love the beat, and I think you will too. 5/5 3. It's a Small World-Baha Men. The song is for Disneyland, not from a movie. I didn't really like the beat, but how can you NOT like a Baha Men song? I like to dancing to it though. 4/5 4. He's a Tramp (Lady and the Tramp)-the Beu Sisters. There's a lead singer that sings most of the lyrics, and she has the voice for it. It's hard to describe, but her voice fits the song perfectly! And some of the things said it the background made me laugh. I love this song! 5/5 5. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah (Song of the South)-Stevie Brock. I thought Stevie would do better. My least favorite song on this CD. I really didn't understand what he was saying, and I don't think you would either. The beat is good for little childeren to dance to though. 2/5 6. The Siamese Cat Song (Lady and the Tramp)-Hilary and Haylie Duff. Usually, I don't like Hilary Duff songs, but in this song (co-performed by her older sister) she really shines. And sisters are perfect for it, because of the end. I really liked listening to it, and I bet you will too. 5/5 7. Circle of Life (The Lion King)-Disney Channel Circle of Stars.(Orlando Brown, Hilary Duff, Tahj Mowry, Kyla Pratt, Raven, Christy Carlson Romano, AJ Trauth, and Anneliese van der Pol) This song is really touching. It brought me back to when I first saw it in 1997 (or somewhere around there) with my late Grandpa. The beat, lyrics, voice, everything, is perfect. If you listen to one song on the CD, it should be this. 5/5 8. A Whole New World (Aladdin)-LMNT. I don't think the voices really fitted the song. And the beat was different. I liked the original better. 3/5 9. One Another Dream (Sleeping Beauty)-no secrets. I really like the beat and the voices for the song was really good. Great to dance to. I sing along to it all the time. 4/5 10. Anytime You Need a Friend (Home on the Range)-the Beu Sisters. They did it again! Great song. I like song and the style of the song it great. I love this song. 5/5 11. The Second Star to the Right (Peter Pam)-Jesse McCartney. I'm a fan of Jesse McCartney, so I wasn't surprised that this song was so good. Jesse's voice is dreamy, and I love it. 5/5 12. When You Wish Upon a Star (Pinocchino)-Ashley Gearing. I never heard of her before, but I will buy her CD and more! WYWUAS is my favorite Disney song, and Ashley made me love it even more. I adore the lyrics and the beat. It brings me back, all right. And I LOVE it. 6(SIX)/5 13. A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes (Cinderella)-Daniel Bedingfield. I love this song. I would like to waltz to it one day. Daniel brings a classic touch to it, and it "spices" up in the middle. 5/5 14. Baroque Hoedown (Disney's Electrical Parade)-They Might Be Giants. Not much voice, just sounds. My brother loves it, I like the beat and style of it too. 4/5 I'm listening to the CD as I write this, so you get exactly what I think of it. This review took me almost 50 minutes, so you can see that I really thought each song over. Buy the CD. I swear, you'll love it.
